Ulla, you have created sheer magic, in this fantastic shot. My, that slanting light seems to be heaven-sent to illuminate the Bee like a jewel and then cast its shadow on a beautiful, sun-lit petal.
Great artistic spirit at work in your framing and cropping of this amazing picture.
And, BTW, I can count the hair on the Bee's body :-)!

Excellent picture of this bee collecting pollen. Great sharpness. Wonderful light and magnificent shadow. Gorgeous colours. I like the way the wings of the bee in the shadow are deformed due to the curvature of the petal.

Hi Ulla,

This is a marvellous photo. It is closer to art photography than to macro or close-up. The image is astonishing clear. Light is execelent rendering very nice color tones. The shadow of the bee looks great and suits with the title.

This works so well both technically and artistically!
I love the sharpness of the flower and the visiting bee and the details are so excellent but that shadow is just a master stroke. If more points were available, I would donate them!

Excellent macro work Ulla, the almost horizontal lighting ( a little surprising, since no flash was used) produced an interesting shadow of the bee on the petal behind. The bee sports some pollen on its body from the eyes to the tip of the abdomen, a very finely focused capture indeed!

What a wonderful capture of the Bee and its shadow on the petal, nicely composed and a great pose, the shadow is so clear, the light is lovely with beautiful vivid colours.

I was reading your note about the blue/purple flowers and now I know why there were about 10 Bee's hanging around my Grape Hyacinths, I took a few shots but I dont think they are clear enough to post.
