[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It took me some time to locate the source of the song that in English is interpreted as 'a little bit of bread and no cheeeese! In Swedish it is taken to be as a count to seven: 'en,två tre, fyr', fem, sex, sjuuuuu!'

When I found this Yellowhammer he was half hidden in a bush and it was difficult to get a clear view but I finally managed it. The dense branches caused some shadowing, though it was sunny. This image is therefore of poorer quality because of shade reduction and fairly heavy cropping as I was about 10 meters from him.

I took one of a male in a better situation that I posted to the WORKSHOP, but I especially wanted a shot of him singing.

In this case the effect is to make it look like a painting, so I thought it was worth posting.

The Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella) is much less common than it used to be, mainly because of loss of habitat caused by modern agriculture. It needs undisturbed low growth for nesting on the ground.
It is resident in most of Europe, but absent from the Mediterranean area and a summer visitor to more northerly parts

Hello Ivan, we are neighbours indeed, I am between you and Mario, ouf! That's quite a position in between two great photographers like you! I love this Audubon looking picture, with soft tones and nice smooth background. You really managed the light in a superb manner, with the head of this cute bird slightly lit. It seems to be looking at you by the position of its eye, it's way too cute. I like the composition with the branches too, thank you!

Francine

Hi Ivan,
well worth posting. You've got a great pose caught here thanks to your timing and despite the difficulties you mentioned i don't think the image is any poorer for it.

Hi Ivan,
it must be Spring ;-).
Great shot, very nice timing catching this bird with the beak wide open.
Hard to get a great shot when they are hidden in the brush, but you did a very nice job.
T%he colors are wonderful and managed to focus in quite well despite the distractions.

Hi Ivan,

I think you know by now that I just love to see singing birds. He must have been very loud with his head raised up like that in song. You did a fine job considering the situation. The workshop is fantastic.

What a great shot of this singing Yellowhammer!
A funny title as well :-)
Brilliant pose and a good composition.
Decent sharpness and detail.
A bit of chroma noise but not a major problem.
Bright colours.
Very well done Ivan!

Joe

Hello Ivan,
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful singing bird with a singing pose!
good exposure and focus always from your presentation in sharpness, good colour and details
many thanks
best regards
Tony

Bellissima immagine in una splendida posa, molto bella la composizione e anche con i problemi e le difficoltā che presenta la preferisco a quella in WS, poichč la parte pių interessante relativa all'occhio e al becco č comunque pių che buona. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Well enough of that...All things considered it is a fine image esthetically. The cross between what is right and wrong come only a tad into play and do not detract from the pose which is after all the most important part in this one Ivan...Very well handled in a quasi political way with notes, but no really as important as the whole image which is just fine!
Bob

Hello Ivan, my dear friend,
I visited all posts of your, sometimes with a bit delay. sorry. I am pleasure to see your great shots. Either this and workshop great. In spite of heavy crop, you captured it with excellent timing and from great POV. Very beautiful colors. good notes to read. thanks for sharing all of them. best wishes.
Ahmet

Hello Ivan. This one is sure worth the post with head up high singing. The image around the eye and beak is still sharp even though heavy cropping have been carried out here and I like the perch and pose under the light. Well done and best regards. Jusni

Hi Ivan,
Wonderful shot! Excellent in all criteria! TFS. Regards,
Deniz

Hello Ivan,
A realy fantastic shot!
The pose of the bird is so great, one can virtualy hear it singing :-))
Congrats, Mike

Hi Ivan, the body is a little soft, but you got great sharp detail of his head, and he's singing. Timing was good here. The workshop is good with great colour and unobstructed detail, but he's not singing. Both together make a great presentation.

Thanks, John

hello Ivan

i read your critique to Jane's (Jaycee) singing bird shot,
and i was wondering wath is your's (i passed by other postings

i started to laugh, what a excellent shot and as i wrote to Jane,
i love this kind of shot, i love to wait the good moment
before shooting the image, is what you did, TFS

Good detail & color Ivan, and what a great pose this is! I don't think I've ever seen a beak quite so wide-open before :)
Thanx for the WS view as well..
Nice catch & have a great weekend,
Howard

The image in the workshop is technically better, Ivan. However, I am with you in posting this one as the main image. The bird is singing and the posture is immensely humorous but cute. I like the sound conversion in Swedish better, ha,ha,ha!
Let me give you one from my own dialect native to my valley in the mountains. It is of a small singing bird found there:
Caller One: Shooooooi-mee-ki-kiun oye? (What wrong did I do, oye?)
Caller Two: Mee kiun! I(I did it!)

Despite some noise, the image of this singing Yellowhammer is attactive and amusing. The sunlight falling on its head gives it an aura of sorts.
TFS and regards.
