You know Ulla...that image looks good even in thumbnail size. Even at that size I can see the clarity and colours well..which of course expand dynamically when opened to this size...Very nice...I hope you're enjoying your weekend.

Hi ulla. You sound as if you have spring in your garden with all the birds. this male Chaffinch looks like he may go POP. he is a size. you have captured a good POV/DOF . natural loking colours and goo detail a little noise in the feathers still. Nice picture all the same. TFS. Nick.

In England we have a saying "Who ate all the pies"..and I believe this glorious Male Chaffinch did!!
This is a perfect partner to your post of yesterday..You have got superbly sharp details with a lovely BG..(I always find the male the hardest to capture due to the colour variations in him)

sorry for my delay, I was in field and away from TN. Nice to see Chaffinch with a great shot from you. I saw same species several minutes ago from Ivan too. This is also perfect capture with great sharp detail, POV, and composition. I like also dark BG and its lovely face.

Despite the bad light, the picture is pretty successful. The compo is almost perfect with the diagonal branches. Very nice POV the neutral BG shows of the Chaffinch very well. He/ she must be eating a lot of seed! Or was it cold. Well done. Regards and TFS BOB

Hi Ulla

You say you used NeatImage on the BG, but I say the whole image is a Neat Image. Even though you had to do some cropping and tidying of the shot it came out very well and my eyes tell me that they like what they see.

The composition is excellent with the branches running through the diagonal causing some triangles on the shot. The colours worked out lovely with the contrasting pinkish-brown of the bird set against the discoloured BG colours (I don't know what to call it) of brown-green. And oh boy, does it look like you called it right as it sure seems that he "had a bit too much", puffed up or not. I really love the shot.

I cannot understand how you can get so sharp image using long end of the lens and 2x teleconverter. Bravo. Wonderful scene at whole and superb image of the bird. Composition is great too as well as the rich colours despite the rainy weather. My compliments.
