[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
First I will thank all for the nice comments and words of my previous posts.
Sorry I’m a bit behind with comments since I have problems with my hands again.

This is a Fieldfare (Björktrast/Snöskata) a beautiful bird with less beautiful song .
It's a migration bird but some of them stays the winter up here but in the winter they are pale and not colourful. They are very easy to take photos of since they are not afraid of people and let you come close.
It's taken outside my home when it was looking for worms.
The Fieldfare is not popular of the gardener and homeowners because they love to eat all berries, the most popular are strawberries.
The spring has arrived at last and the birds are comming in big numbers now, it a great time.

PLS
No points for this, I have given them up like some others. I have turn of the points, so don’t waste your green ones

Fieldfares are easily identified. They are almost as big as a Mistle Thrush but their reddish-brown backs are sandwiched between the striking cold grey colours of the head and rump. In flight the conspicuously white underwing coverts could cause confusion with Mistle Thrush, but if you can't see the grey head and rump, look for a clear contrast between the white lower belly and the black tail.
Breeds in woodland, especially birch, and in parks and gardens. Winters on farmland, entering towns in bad weather.
A rare breeding bird in Scotland, where a few pairs nest annually. A common winter visitor between October-April, mainly to farmland where huge flocks can be seen.
Very common in summer in many parts of Scandinavia, especially in parks and gardens. Also breeds in much of central Europe as far south as parts of Italy and including many areas in eastern France. Occurs widely, often in large numbers, in most of central and southern Europe in winter.
Up to a 25 pairs have been found breeding in Britain in recent years but these are widely scattered localities which are rarely occupied more than once.

Hej Gert,
Fine portrait of Björktrasten. I like the low POV and he poses in a fine way to allow you to capture him with fine sharpness against a pleasing OOF grassy BG.
I have not succeeded in getting a good close portrait of this one yet.
Thanks for sharing this fine image,
Hälsningar,
Ivan

Valborg var rå och blåsig och idag börjar regnet men det ska vara bättre framöver så det finns hopp! Lycka till på Fjärilsvägen!

Hi Gert,

This Fieldfare, a new bird for me, is posing so majestically for you. His colors are marvelous - a beautiful combination of greys, browns and blacks. Superb details (as always). I love the natural background - the only pretty natural background here is our sky! I hope your hand problems end soon.

Jane

Lovely Fieldfare image Gert. Fine low pov, exposure, and sharp focus to see it's wonderful details. Well done. Tfs Richard

Hi Gert,
Beautiful capture with your long-range lens.
I presume you had the camera mounted on tripod, or otherwise your hands are rock steady.
BTW, what is wrong with your hands? I am distressed to know you have some problem with them.
The bird is new for me and I love it because you have captured it so well.
Thanks for sharing it.

Oh Gert, I am so sorry your hands are still giving you a lot of trouble and pain. No show of an operation yet?
What an attractive bird he is, with quite strong patterns and colours. It's shape does look a little like a thrush, but
I haven't seen one like this before - well, not in NZ!
Keep well

Hi Gert

You know that sound that a boxer makes when he just received a well planted shot in his mid-ribs - well that was the sound that escaped my lips when I opened this image. Ooofffffph…

I just wish I could do something for those wrists of yours. At least you won't be throwing any boxer's punches with them, but it's hard to understand why the doctors can't get it sorted out – it's a carpal syndrome, not a cancer. My sympathies and thoughts remain with you my friend.

Anyway, you continue to show us how brave you are with immaculate postings such as this. From A-Z this is perfect and an ideal lesson in nature photography.

Very well done MF and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Gert,
it's a true beauty this Fieldfare, you did it justice with great sharpness and clear colours. How you do such wonderful shots HANDHELD is still your secret even if you indicate the technique in the note (many thanks for that!) .
