First I will thank all for the nice comments and words of my last post.

Today’s post it a Red Squirrel and I’m glad this one show up at my feeding station, in fact it was two, but the other was very shy and left as soon he notice me.
I’m quite happy with this shot, the blurred tail is a nice BG for the head but I not happy with the stick in the BG, almost destroy the picture but that’s nature and nothing to do about.
And I think he is very quite when he coming in the snow-
This one came sometimes to close almost inside the close distance of my big lens.

The Red Squirrel is not so common anymore so one when you don’t expect to.
When I was a kid they were very common.
I hope you like this cute fellow.

The red squirrel or Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) is a species of tree squirrel (genus Sciurus). A tree-dwelling omnivorous rodent, the red squirrel is common throughout Eurasia.
In Great Britain and Ireland, numbers have decreased drastically in recent years, in part because of the introduction of the eastern grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) from North America.
The red squirrel has a typical head-and-body length of 19 to 23 cm (7.5 to 9 in), a tail length of 15 to 20 cm (5.9 to 7.9 in) and a mass of 250 to 340 g (8.8 to 12 oz). It is not sexually dimorphic, as males and females are the same size. The red squirrel is somewhat smaller than the eastern grey squirrel which has a head-and-body length of 25 to 30 cm (9.5 to 12 in) and weighs between 400 and 800 g (14 oz to 1.8 lb). It is thought that the long tail helps the squirrel to balance and steer when jumping from tree to tree and running along branches and may keep the animal warm during sleep.

Hi Gert,
Love the colours and pov, good clear crisp focus on the head and eyes. No blowout from the snow which is good. Stick like you said is an annoyance, but that's nature for you. TFS. Regards Bill

Hi Gert,
Well done on finding this uncommon Red Squirrel.
You've managed the exposure very well.
As you mentioned, the stick was a bit of a nuisance, but can't be helped.
Its still a very nice shot.
Cheers & thanks for sharing it.
Steve

Hi Gert,
charmingly lively dynamical capture in great precision, perfectly placed. Perfectly handled light brings out finest shades of the squirrel's exquisite reddish colours. Excellent three-dimensional depth of presentation achieved by shallow depth of field. And so good to see the whole scenery - reflected in the squirrel's eyes!
Shown in this way, even lots of late snow can be a pleasant sight. Thank you, and best regards,
Peter

Hej Gert,
An excellent capture of a Red Squirrel from a frontal POV taken with such fine sharpness where in focus that I can see your reflection in his eye! :). The light management in the snow and composition are also great but maybe I would have left a little more space above the tail. I don't find th stick too disturbing.
Thanks.
Önskar en trevlig helg,
Hälsningar,
Ivan

Nattens snö håller på tina bort och det varmare framöver här i Skåne!:)

Hello Gert
Once again a stunner from your hand and camera. The technical aspects applied here is great. All the birds or in this instance squirrel in your images always seem to be posing for you or you are very fortunate to have such opportunities to capture them, like this "happy chappy". It is always pleasant to look at your postings and this one is no exception. Like always your presentation is done with pride and preciseness and I thank your for that. Focus, sharpness, composition and overall display is great, and of course the direct look into the camera's lens is the cherry on the cake to round of this great image. By the way, the stick did not bother me at all.
Best regards.
Anna

The eyes of the Squirrel take the cake in this adorable image, Gert.
What a fine capture of this cute little thing frisking around in the snow!
And I can count the whiskers on its face -- the picture is that sharp.
Thanks and regards.

Hi Gert.
Your note is the best comments for the shot. It is really amazing and you have reproduced this beauty simply perfectly. Especially am impressed with squirrel's eyes and hair reproduction. Last one is precise as well as exposure of the image. Pose is simply charming and snow on the animal legs is looked superbly. Stick is really not the most beautiful object in the frame ;) but I also agree with your decision not to delete it by FS. Nature is nature and shot is looked also naturally. Bravo. And many thanks for kind comments of my last pictures which is reflected my two-day meeting with that beautiful moth.
Yours Alexei.

Interesting picture. I like the way this guy is watching and all those details on the face. I agree that the stick is a distraction but in nature we cant avoid such things:-). Excellent composition and those glossy eyes add life to the image.
