What a beautiful moth. Looking at this moth is like looking at candy floss. The cerise pink is indeed beautiful and the olive green compliments it well. Lovely pose captured on top of a branch. Nice to look at the bark coming off on some places. This is really an excellent macro, with great focus and sharpness. The word elephant makes me think of something rather large and I cannot think why a "huge" name like that could be given to a small and fragile insect like this moth? Thanks for sharing. Hello Ulla,
that strikingly cute elephant hawkmoth hs been very well presented by you to show its perfectly stramlined body, allowing to look straight into one if its huge eyes. Phantastic colours. Must have been a really exciting encounter!
Interesting to read the poetic translation of Deilephila. I also think that late afternoon is the best time of the day, particularly for taking pictures - not in these days in Vienna, however, as each hot and sunny day would recently end up in thunderstorm and torrential rain by late afternoon.
Enjoy these beautiful days of fresh summer in beautiful Sweden! I'm going to leave town for a couple of weeks in the Tyrolese mountains tomorrow.

If I i EVER see one anything like this I wil let you know..Fascinating and lucky capture...done well. I am told by some salesmen and my grand kids that pink is still "in" amongst the young crowd who even have pink cell phones and Ipods...but in nature it is somewhat rare!
