Fantastic macro, Gert. The details are incredible. Love the lines and patterns and colors on this "common" insect. Who would have thought there was so much beauty in this little exoskeleton. Congratulations on a great shot, and TFS. : )

Looks like if it was carved in a piece of wood :-). Very good subject, Gert, specially well presented with lot's of details. You were lucky to get it so close (even with a 180mm), because they are tricky. Here, they jump BEFORE you shoot! Next one in-flight, Gert? Very well done with this one. TFS.
Just a guess... looks like a "locusta migratoria", one of the largest species (30 to 60mm), but i'm surprised they come so far north, even with the recent warm week we had in Europe.
