Today’s post is a Large Skipper. I have been digging in my archive again.
It’s a very small butterfly but it’s beautiful. I took this in the morning when the dew still was left. I hope you like it.

Edit.
Thanks to Nigel, for his correction.
I agree, this a Essex Skipper not a Large Skipper but they are very similar.

The Essex Skipper butterfly rests with forewings held above the hindwings. The top of the wings is orange-brown edged with black.
The Essex Skipper butterfly is almost identical to the Small Skipper butterfly but can be identified by the black underside to the clubs of the antennae. Therefore, please also look at the Small Skipper butterfly.

Edit.
Thanks to Nigel, for his correction.
I agree, this a Essex Skipper not a Large Skipper but they are very similar.

Realy nice shot Gert, real nice with the waterdrops! You have done a lot of trouble to get this shot! Tripod, converter and a lot of patience i guess..! Lovely macro! Well done!

TFS!

Perfect in every way! Doesn't get any better than this. Paul :)

Gert:
That's a beautiful shot - but it's a male Essex Skipper Thymelicus lineola, rather than a Large Skipper. They are similar, but the distribution of brown markings and the dark underside to the antennae are diagnostic of the species.
Regards, Nigel.

Hi Gert, early in the morning I have to come back to see your lovely Skipper one more time. Yesterday evening i saw it and - uuupps - there were no more green smilies left - so now I can say: This is such a special shot, this insect is sitting in a perfect position and as a bonus these pretty waterdrops - I love waterdrops, they are looking like jewels.
Nothing could be better, thanks a lot, bye
Sabine - wishnguarda

uups, smilies not filled yet, I come back for the green one and to have a third look ;-)

Gert, such colors and droplets are really very fine. Besides, excellent sharpness, composition, lighting and pov. I like bg too.

Another perfect shot by you.

I know this skipper. Have a lot of photos made. I'm wondering how you can get so close with tripod to them. This is not so brave guy. Photo is well done. Composition is very good. Good DOF and sharpness.
