Nuthatch (Wood nuthatch, Sitta europea , Nötväcka).
I took this today, it was a nice winter day , very sunny and cold - 15 C.
It’s common in the south part of Sweden and it stay for the winter.
Normally they climb up and down in a tree looking for insects, but in the winter the visist bird
feeders.
Nuthatches are quite unmistakable with their short-tailed, big-headed, fat-bellied shape, even if you don't see the blue-grey back, orangey underparts and long black eyestripe.
Technique:
Sigma 100-300 / 4.0 EX HSM.Fill-flash -1/3 ev Sigma EF 500 DG Super
ISO 100 - 1/3 ev. Raw-format. Converted ,contrast and levels ,crop, resized to 800 pixels , USM save as JPG for the site.
I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 3 for PP.

Great shot, straight in my favorites!
Great details
Well done

Gert, A favorite. Wow! There's alot to like about this one! It has excellent detail, sharpness, composition, pose & I love the bright cheerful blue-sky BG. Your the Man!!

Wonderful bird shot, Gert. I've never seen a bird in this position, and what a cute one! Every detail is perfect up to the snow on the trunk. You've also conveyed very well the impression of a cold sunnny winter day here.

What an exceptional pose you got. This bird looks like he has a stiff neck. Tack sharp Gert. I like those small specks of snow you show. I can still remember the bird you posted in the snow. Great shot.

Gert, it's a magnificent capture. It looks so real on my monitor. The ligthing is amazing and the colours superb. Very well done.

superbe ! Pdc et Map exeptionnelle ! et la position de l'oiseau est excellente !
Bravo

One of the oddest pose I have seen, it is really ignoring the gravity effect. Fantastic quality and colours, a very interesting post.

Beautiful!
A fabulous capture and a great pose.
Colours and detail are perfect.
Great work,very well done Gert.

A very good capture. These treecreeping type birds are always tricky to shoot.Well done.

Fine aviary shot ! All in place and then some ! Two thumbs up !

Excellent capture of the bird, everything about it is spot on. It's a shame you couldn't have got this against a more neutral background though, against the blue sky would have made this REALLY special.

I tried twisting my neck to find a comfortable position to view this, but the bird does not allow it :) This is a stunning capture and the pose makes it stand out from the rest.

Stunning work.

I hope that you gave some seeds to the bird after having taken it in photo, the pose is terrific friendly, very great shot

Very good Gert. Great pose, sharpness and good notes. Well done.

Gert, once more, another amazing shot. And this is a funny one too - which is great. As usual, great sharpness and great colors.

Magnificent nuthatch, Gert.
It is one of my biggest wishes of to photagraph one in this position, usual for her.
I am going to double effort so that it is there so, possibly.
This photo, for my eyes stunned of greenhorn, is completed.
Thank you very much

Otra gran imagen, otra gran presentacion.
Excelente oportunidad captada con gran calidad.
A pesar de un fondo que podría perjudicar la vision del ave, la agudeza del mismo es admirable.

Another great image, another great presentation.
Excellent opportunity caught with great quality.
In spite of a bottom that could harm vision of the bird, the sharpness of the same one is admirable.

Nice birdy!

Focus is very sharp and exposure is excellent (what else could we expect?).
The composition is a little centered, but I guess it's hard to avoid when we have the chance to get that close.
Excellent capture Gert and TFS.
