A wonderful shot, Gert. It was the beautiful colours of the thumbnail that really caught my attention - especially the yellow on the right. The kids look very comfortable using mother as a taxi, although one appears to be half in the water. A great capture. Well done.

What a wonderful capture. If this is out of focus I certainly need an eye test :)
The green reflection in the gentle waves makes an excellent colour contrast for the birds. And I can't fail to mention the Aww!! factor, which makes this such a WOW!! as well as recording a seldom seen event.

This is one of my wishlist photographs, not the same species, but the same pose. I really like this lady and her brood. Compo wise, IMO, a bit less at the back & some more space in front of her, but this is a small nit. Goosander - Mergus merganser & I love the whole of this picture!

I love the picture, its documents the merganser's behaviour and how parental care works in these birds. The water's colour is wonderful, almost surreal and the picture's sharpness can be worked with USM in PS.

This probably could have been a teeny-weeny fraction sharper, but I tried running a sharpen filter on a copy, and that seemed to give too much. So, it's probably better to keep the "soft" feel ;-)
Beautiful capture showing the devotion of mummy, who hasn't even had the time to visit the hair stylist because she's had to keep track of her offspring ;-))

Very nice capture of this free ride Gert. It seems to be typical for mergansers all over the world as I have seen the Danish merganser doing the same. Nice colours and the reflection in the water is just perfect.

Not a classical shot, Gert. This is very cute, and a totally unexpected image. Mixed blue and light green, as well as troubled reflections are a bit disturbing for the eye in the beginning, but finally, it gives movement to the shot. Very well done!

Other than the fact that the context of the picture is out of this world, it also takes a good photographer to fill in the lights and colours. I really like it. I noticed you use alot of ISO 400 and negative ev, can you tell me why you prefer it so? Thanks

Great photo, the subject is so cute. And indeed, it is not always necessary to be perfectly sharp. I you did not tell us we could have thought that you deliberatly chose a soft focus :)
