A mallard again !!
The mallards don't need any closer presentation.
They are the most common ducks in the northern hemisphere.
The sun is very low in Sweden in the winter and hangs just above the horizon, so the light will come from a very low angel. In this case it’s nice.
Technique:
Sigma 100-300 EX HSM @ 250 mm
ISO 400 -2/3 ev. Raw format
Converted, contrast and levels, resized to 800 pixels, USM save as JPG for the site.
I used Adobe Photoshop CS and Neat Image for PP
I hope you like it.

Landing gear down, runway all clear. Excellent Gert, brilliant.
Very nice post. I like this a lot.

Nice shot Gert, is seems to be suspended in the air. The lighting and warm colours are very good.
I would have cloned out the diffuse plants seen at the right bottom corner to make the picture clearer.
As I said in my last post, in the future I will be as critic as posible, hope you do the same with my shots, I think that is thats way to learn from other people opinions. Thanks.

Nice catch, the edge is a bit too hard on the left wing. Could have been good to clone out the plants on right corner.
Well done.

Gert, what a capture of the Drake landing. Mmm he looks good to eat, plenty of meat on the chest, nice and plump.
Well done

Mike

Very good one Gert.
Great capture, very good pose!
Good shot of this fat little guy :)
Well done.

Now, here's one plump, well fed mallard with dimples in his belly ready to withstand a cold Swedish winter ;-)) Funny reading Mike's remark, because my first thought was also "he's ready for the X-mas table" ;-)
Anyway, nice and sharp stop action capture from the most difficult angle of all - something coming straight at you.

I hope you " ducked" , Gert, before this drake flew into you! Sorry couldn't resist my quacky humor. This is marvelous as usual! Super lighting, focus and I just love the expression on this young man's face. Well done!

Another nice mallard shot. The extreme focal length has left the wings a touch out of focus. The chest feathers may be a touch oversharpened - perhaps yopu need to use several layers for this one to sharpen each region appropriately.

Hello Gert,

very nice, excellent composition sharpness and colours. The lens in camera left and on your description, right, is not the same.

Great landing position. He looks like he is suspended in the air. Wonderful capture, so crisp and clear. TFS, Janice

Coincido con los conceptos de Alan Kolnik, pero la imagen es realmente de calidad a pesar de ello.
No somos profesionales y el nivel de muchas de tus imágenes tienen la misma calidad que uno de ellos.
Gracias por compartirla.

I agree with the concepts of Alan Kolnik, but the image is really of quality in spite of it.
We are not professionals and the level of many of your images has the same quality that one of them.

Gert, I can give you nothing but praise for this one. Especially since you severely out class me in this field of photography...Someday, with the right equipment & experience, I'll earn the right to critique. Until then, GREAT IN-FIGHT GERT!!!!

This looks like a fighter jet coming in for a landing. I found myself looking for heatwaves behind it - Thankfully I did not find any :)

Superb work that you did here.

Very well done and thanks for posting
