I’m having looked in my archive to find a picture to share and I find this one.
This is a dandelion when had turn to second phase and become white with seeds.
It remind me of my childhood when we blow this seeds away.
It’s a very well known weed. And almost everybody hats it when it shows in your grass, but it will disappoint in the end of June, and shown in the autumn for a second time.
It’s a fantastic flower with growing power, it can grown up through asphalt.
You can do a very good wine from the yellow flowers.

Flower head diameter: 2.5 - 7.5 cm
Dandelions are well-known, robust weeds; the common name derives from the French 'dent de lion', meaning 'lion's tooth', which refers to the deeply toothed, deep green leaves, which are arranged in rosettes. The bright yellow flower heads are borne on hollow stalks , and the downy seed heads are familiar to children as dandelion clocks, which are used to 'tell the time' by the number of blows taken to remove the seeds.
Dandelions have deep taproots, and the whole plant contains a milky fluid known as latex. It is perennial, and flowers throughout the year. The flowers close at night, and can produce around 2,000 wind-dispersed fruits. Plants can also regenerate from pieces of the tap root.
Although generally regarded as a weed, dandelions have many uses, both culinary and medicinal. It is a scientifically proven diuretic and laxative, and has also been used as a tonic, to treat rheumatic problems, and as a blood purifier. Young leaves and flowers are used in salads, stir-fries and other recipes, and the root can be dried to make a substitute for coffee, a practice that was common during the rationing of the Second World War.

It's interesting shot but IMHO a little too central... great dark background. I love pictures in sun direction

What an excellent photo of the dandelion Gert. You have captured it so well - just as well there was no wind that day! Even the hairs on the stem show. Well done and thankyou for showing, Janice

Please dont blow! I have never seen one this perfect. My 1st thought was that it was a bit centered, but the more I look at it the more I disagree with myself (please dont tell my wife!) The stem at an angle is the key here. This is a stunning shot with perfect DOF and sharpness.
Very well done and thanks for posting.
great sharpness on this weed I will never look at them the same way again... but I will still try to keep them out of my yard.
