Duck again ;-)
This beautiful duck was landing very close to me, almost to close, just aim and shoot and hope for the best.

The Mallard is our commonest duck, the one you are most likely to be greeted by if you throw out food at your local park pond. Some Mallards have been domesticated and so you may also see Mallard-like hybrids showing bewildering colours from khaki brown to pure white. The displaying male Mallard shows his colours very clearly as well as the diagnostic curly black upper tail feathers. The female Mallard is the standard dabbling duck against which all the others should be compared. Mallard in flight can be told by their relatively large size, the contrastingly dark-cheated appearance of the males and the fact that the white borders on either side of the dark blue speculum are both equally obvious.
Breeds and winters on any fresh and saltwater bodies
The commonest duck, abundant everywhere.
Almost certainly the most widespread and abundant duck in Europe, found almost everywhere
The British breeding population is estimated at least 100 000-130 000 pairs, with 23 000 pairs in Ireland. Winter peaks are about 500 000 birds.
European population over 2 million pairs Russian population 650000-800000 Turkish population 5000-20000.

Wow! that's really good Gert. You captured the right moment. Position of the bird, point of view, sharpness, light, are all almost perfect.

WOW, you were really lucky here Gert. This is a very good action picture - nice and clear. The colours are really good here and plenty of details. I am so envious of the snow but of course it will come here too, we just have to wait.

Another great Mallard, Gert.
The essential is very sharp. I like also the background. You already had snow one mount ago. It is very special to see Mallard with this BG.
An excellent work: picture and note.
Thanks

Great action shot! Detail, colors, light, and composition are outstanding!

Gert, another great action here. As always, excellent job.

P.S.: I've been having some serious problems regarding my connection. If I "disappear", be sure I'll be back to check your photos as soon as possible.

Great shot like always.
TFS.

I'm so envious of all your mallards seemingly taking off and landing just above your head, so it's just a question of picking them out and "shooting" them ;-)) Our mallards are a lazy lot in comparison :-(
Another great capture, nice colours, good POV, sharpness and a catchlight in the eye to top it off ;-)

Great work Gert with beautiful pose and light.

Looks as if he is ducking from the lens too! As always, very well done, Gert.
I got quite a couple on the wing shots in the Kalahari, but more than 100 m away. Will post some later, they are not nearly your standard!
Well done!

This is very sharp and the composition is great. You say it was close to you, what is close in your terms?

The exposure here is perfect as well.

Very well done and thanks for posting.

Excellent DOF. Critical focussing and exposure. The slight blur on the wing tips adds to the impact of this shot.

Beautiful shots of birds in flight.
