I wouldn't care to use NeatImage or any other noise filter to kill those lovely details on the wings of these patridges, Ivan. In my humble opinion, you are fully justified in NOT USING the filter here.
In my younger days, I used to accompany my father on his winter hunts in the Himalayan wildernesses, especially after snowfalls. Your image reminds me of those days; we too used to have wild patridges to hunt then (they were, of course, different from the ones I see in your picture). Sadly, half a century later, the birds are almost extinct now, thanks to indisrciminate poaching and erosion of the natural habitat in the name of modern "progress".

Hi Ivan,
At first glance I was in doubt whether it was noise or the snow's texture. That is to show that it really has a minimal effect on the overall quality of the shot. Your shot manages to show all angles of view of the bird at rest. Light managent is very good and compo excellent.
As regards neatimage, I think [IMMO] that its noise filtering is not so efficient and moreover, as you graphically indicated, its results are rather flat. Principally that is the reason why I switched to Helicon filter, which besides the noise reduction filter, offers quite a comprehensive suite of enhancement tools.

This shot reminds me of some Polish early XXth century painting by Czeslaw Wasilewski, entitled "Partridges on the snow" ("Kuropatwy na sniegu" in Polish). See it here.
There is some common mood isn't it!?

A very nice and quality shot with your telescope.
The sharpness here is great considerring the distance and the noise level is definately low enought not to bother.
The colors are also very lovely and well saturated, the POV is great and the contrast between the partridges adn the snow in the BG is excellent.
Very well seen and shot!

A great shot of these partridge.Well composed ,with a good POV.The colours are natural and well saturated.The plumage detail and colour is very good.They look aware of you being there.I think the snow really helps show them off.TFS
