Nice macro work, Gert.
It is not a typical Gert´s macro post, looks more vivid and light a bit "harder" than usual, which gives a great saturation and extra details to all parts of subject and BG. As you already know, I like your artistic pics, but I also like this kind of technical approach very much, with so much DOF and everything into focus.
Nice to see close ups from you, follow well MF.

... Fin bild. Roligt att du och Bernt har varsin 500mm :) Jag måste vänta till mitten av april. En dag bestämmer jag mig till 500 och nästa dag vill jag ha 600mm f/4 och tredje 400 f/2,8... och så kommer det att gå tills är det dags att åka. Det ät typiskt mig. Det blir roligt att träffas nästa gång och gå lite runt med våra nya leksaker. Har Bernt köpt Canon eller Sigma? Det finns en Sigma 300-800 f/5,6 och bara 800mm som jag kommer att kolla också :)

Hej Gert,
Very fine capture of the Pearl-Bordered Fritillary. Sharp details and bright colour. I like the background too. I assume the light was poor as you had to use the flash. This gives it a "harder" look but is still effective.
Excellent composition.

Hej Gert,
You are perfectly correct in the ID of this butterfly: this is a male Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary in fresh condition.

This shot would make a perfect illustration for a book on butterflies. The sharpness, colours and composition are first class.
When I was photographing butterflies to make slide shots I often used ring flash on my old Olympus with results similar to this.

But I realised that the use of this type of flash 'flattens' the subject, the shadows being non- existant and the colours evened out to produce a shot good for purposes of illustration and showing what the species looks like in detail.
But for other purposes the use of flash becomes more limited and daylight is perhaps less predictable but more interesting.
This is perhaps a matter of opinion, but the fact remains that this shot is perfect for an illustration.

Tradicional punto de vista para captar esta bella mariposa Gert con excelente foco y agudeza, aunque creo que el DOF ha sido algo amplio, sin obtener una difusión completa del fondo.
