Hi Rob, it does look like a bit of a monster. I can't be much help on the ID other than to say it's a longhorn (family Cerambycidae) of some kind. I've had a look at what I have and I can't find it.
Nice shot, good pose - I hopw your brother is OK :-)

Well it is a big one, strange you had not seen before. Nice DOF you got in this shot, to configure a fine scene.
I am afraid I cannot help you with this ones.
Best wishes in this difficult moment. We know what it is.
Felipe.

A wonderfully clear capture of the insect.
Light has been used very nicely here.
BG is a great asset in this composition.
POV is great.
TFS.

Great shot Rob,
Well composed, good detail, colours and sharpness.
Nicely captured, no idea on ID though. Thanks for posting.
Have a good weekend
Hi, very good shot, DOF could be better, but this animal is too big, I think. I cannot agree with cosml: S. meridianus is more delicate. I think, that this is longhorn beetle Prionus coriarius, female.
Best wishes,
Markus

Hello, in opinion it's neither Stenocorus nor Prionus but Oxymirus cursor, species that is typical especially for hilly and mountain areas. This is a female I believe. Compare:

and tell what you think :-)
