[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Alpine Snowbell Soldanella alpina a plant I grow in my garden as an early spring flower, but in case anybody thinks to report it as a domestic species this particular flower is seen here in it's original context at the side of a melting glacier in the Valley of Bargis at 1552m in the southern alps of switzerland when we were on holiday there in June.
the Soldanella's are related to primulars and the alpina specialises in flowers as soon as the snow melts from around then. and plants continue to flower as they are uncovered like this one eveen in june the ice had only resently retreated in fact I fell through the small glacier it was growing at the side of in a sheltered part of the valley while trying to get another plant on the otherside.
It proved not to be very deep so I lived to post it here and hope you like. please say what you will about it

Nice little flower. In Poland we have another specie from this genus. Soldanella carpatica:-)

Excellent photo of this beautiful snowbell, Rob.

The two most striking aspects of this image, IMHO, are:
1.) the DOF,
2.) The details and sharpness of this lovely flower, with an almost waxy and textured appearance.

I also very much like the exposure of this capture, which helps to deepen the colors and make richer, the entire composition.

Interesting picture. The leaves look frosted!

I only think the whole picture is to dark or is the grass in Swiss greener?
