The orangutans are two species of great apes known for their intelligence, long arms and reddish-brown hair. Native to Indonesia and Malaysia, they are currently found only in rainforests on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra, though fossils have been found in Java, Vietnam and China. They are the only surviving species in the genus Pongo and the subfamily Ponginae (which also includes the extinct genera Gigantopithecus and Sivapithecus). Their name derives from the Malay and Indonesian phrase orang hutan, meaning "person of the forest".

Hi Robi,
These are such incredible creatures and it is sad to hear that they are so endangered.This is a lovely portrait with the inteligence of the creature clearly seen.Its expression so human in its nature and one that seems to look into your sole.The detail and clarity are spot on.I enjoyed also to read the short but informative note.

Voilà un portrait très original. J'aime beaucoup cette pose capturée et les détails sur son visage. Ils ont toujours ce quelque chose de tellement humain, c'est troublant. Merci pour ces notes intéressantes,je ne savais pas la sigification de Orang Hutan... Bravo!

bonjour robi
aprés un bon moment sans venir sur Tn je fait un passage rapide,j'aime bien l'attitude ce cet aurang outan.la DOF est un peu trop juste mais a voir la sensibilité utilisée je suppose que la lumiere ne devait pas etre adequate.
