Distribution:Europe, Asia, N'Africa
Habitat: All sorts of habitat (dry or humid, lives until 2800m altitude)
Wingspan: 50-55mm
Foodplant(Caterpillars): Frangula alnus, Rhamnus species (hence the name "rhamni"

This butterfly can live up to 13 months, which is quite long.
The male has a sulphur yellow coloration and the female is white with a greenish tinge. They never set wings open.
I have already shown more than 50 species of butterflies of my region and this one was missing on the list.

These butterflies are so beautiful, I love their color ! You have captured this one very nicely, I love the light coming from behind, making the wings look almost translucent. Splendid composition and POV, lovely colos, excellent details, wonderful blurred BG. This picture is a real pleasure for the eyes. Very well done !

point de vue beaucoup de détail sur la Gonepterix. Intéressant le rapprochement de couleurs: ceux plus souples du papillon et ceux beaucoup plus vifs des tres belles fleurs. Très belle la lumière qui se pose excellentement sur les sujets avec une excellente messe à feu sur tous les details.

Bonjour Anne,
A very nice macro of a male G. rhamni. I like the composition with the contrasting purple flowers against a fine neutral Bg and the sharpness and lighting are excellent.
