Bonjour Anne,
A delightful composition of developing fern fronds with a hoverfly adding a little spice:))!
I think the hoverfly might be a male Epistrophe (Syrphus) diaphana. The eyes of the male are allways very close together, often touching, whereas those of the female are wider apart (she has more brains!)

Hi Anne-

Capturing these ferns in the act of unfolding doesn't require a fast shutter speed, but it does take a good eye. You've caught some nice curling patterns, with a nicely contrasting visitor as a bonus. A very pleasing image to look at.

un'altra bellissima immagine dal ricercato taglio compositivo e dai colori fantastici, che sarebbe stata semplicemente straordinaria se le foglie più grandi della felce fossero perfettamente a fuoco, personalmente penso che la parte leggermente sfocata sia troppo ampia rispetto alla parte perfettamente a fuoco, per cui l'attenzione si sposta continuamente dall'insetto alle foglie e viceversa e l'insetto è troppo spostato per cui non ci si sofferma su una visione d'insieme, si tratta comunque semplicemente della mia opinione e del mio modo di percepire, questa presentazione merita tutti i miei complimenti.

Hi Anne. Once again you have taken a fine close up which is so clear and crisp. Your focusing is first class with fine detail. The Fern alone is beautiful but the hoverfly adds somthing extra i think its the golden colours. well done TFS.

Hi Anne,
a lovely graphical visual of the fern giving a special impact. With the superbs clarity of the fly, this shot is very exciting. The green hues gives a very calm amd cool feeling.

This is now the 2nd image I have seen today of unusual combinations in nature, each carrying a different message. Almost bi-polar opposites in certain ways and yet presented so clearly and concise.

Thank you for all your kind messages via Ivan and I missed your captures soo much so I just had to come back even though it won't be every day! :-) This is a wonderful capture showing the little Hoverfly sharply in focus on some beautiful Ferns. I love the way the leaves are curled up. It produces a lovely pattern and the green colours are wonderful.
A very fine composition indeed!

Du kannst Dir wohl gut vorstellen, dass mir dieses Bild ausgezeichnet gefällt. Neben den wunderschönen Formen finde ich auch die Komposition mit dem Insekt rechts aussen - als ob es den Verzierungen der Pflanze den Vortritt geben wollte - besonders gut. Schlicht, schön und elegant, drei wohl treffende Adjektive für Deine Aufnahme.
