LIBELLULA DEPRESSA

Broad-bodied Chaser
Plattbauch
Libellule déprimée

Looking for insects and especially butterflies I saw this golden dragonfly on the wooden perch. Because there was no possibility for me to catch it from the other side I had to shoot against the light. It makes the abdomen of the dragonfly almost appear translucid.
The blue spots behind are numerous blue flowers (Aquilegia).
I hope that I'm right with my ID. If not, help is always welcome.

Ciao Anne, splendid light on lovely dragonfly, good details and excellent sharpness, wonderful colorful blurry BG, very well done, ciao Silvio

It is a perfect use of back lighting to take what might be an ordinary picture and created it into an artform. thus it has hangable beauty...a white matte with a stainless frame and your wall is set!

Hello Anne,

Bravo pour la transparence de l'abdomen!
C'est utile, parfois, de travailler face à la lumière, à contre jour.

Bonjour Anne,
Yes this is L. depressa taken from an unusual POV that makes excellent use of the lighting and colourful OOF aquilegia BG. The sharpness and composition are great but for me the best feature is the lighting and how you used it.
Merci et bonne soirée,
Amitiés,
Ivan

Hello Anne,
An interesting view of L. depressa from a nice low vantage point showing its nearly transparent golden abdumen and beautiful markings on the wings very clearly. Well composed too and I like the background.
TFS and all the best, Ulla

Ciao Anne. Ottimo POV in controluce che esalta la trama delle ali. Nitidissima e con luce ottima.

Roberto

Hello Anne,
This dragonfly must have liked your approach as its eyes must have seen many of you. A great angle and adjustment for the lighting difficulties,
Excellent work...

Ciao Anne,
bellissima macro con un perfetto e sapiente uso della luce ed un eccellente punto di ripresa che evidenzia anche attraverso le trasparenze gli splendidi dettagli, mi piace molto anche lo sfondo ottimamente sfocato dai fantastici colori.
Grazie e complimenti
Con amicizia

Hi Anne,

Nice capture of this dragonfly. You have got the excellent POV. The light coming through the wings and the lower part of the body makes the picture fantastic.

Kedar

bonjour Anne
superbe photo de cette Libellule déprimée femelle prise sous un bel angle et point de vue, très beaux details

Passe une bonne nuit

Without a doubt you shot this beautiful little creature from the correct side. The backlighting certainly added to the dynamic of the image. Pickers can't be choosers. You made the best of what you had to work with. Great shoot.
