Hi all!

I crossed this ephemeral creature the other day. Knowing that it would not live very long under the rising sun, I didn't try to understand whether it would be dangerous or not. I just looked at it and found it beautiful as well as intriguing. For those who should be interested: it doesn't belong to any known species as far as I know, lives in frozen mountain rivers and changes regularly its aspect. It lives between a couple of hours up to some days. One of its particularities is the fact that autodestruction occurrs as soon as you touch it. It's only between less than 1mm and 2mm thick.

I felt like presenting it to you...

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Markus,

This is wonderful - but it's even more wonderful that you spotted this sight. It does look like an alien - amazing. A fine example of Mother Nature - the artist. You have presented this perfectly.

Jane

Ciao MarKus,
TFS. Ciao
Maurizio

Hi Markus,
A nice abstract of ice which looks like an alien. Excellent composition and good details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Markus,
Yes I see the "alien"..But where's Sigourney Weaver?? ;}
Love how one's imagination can run wild with this, in "alien" territory so to speak..
Excellent!
Howard

Hy Markus
It seems that winter is still present. And the ice is still modelling phantastic figures. I like the combination between ice and water (i suppose, because I cannot distiguish very well if it is water or nothing beneath the ice). Good piece of art!
Kind regards, Oana

Hello Markus,
The shapes produced by ice are eternally varied but it takes an eye to see a special one like this. To my mind it looks like you have captured a sea-horse sculptured in ice but that impression is like thin ice: it can easily change!
I like the lighting and composition very much!
Thanks and best regards,
Ivan

Hi Markus

Another one for the inspiration book...but today i finally got lucky :)
I think/hope that all my study on your winter abstracts has paid off, but i'm always eager to learn some more :)
This is again a terrific photo and once more one that uses our imagination. The shapes that the ice makes are endless and always unique and your photos are just the same. Very good technically and aesthetically!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Markus,

An indeed strange alien ice motive you have found and captured with good light, and detail, btw thanks for your visit and indeed I am still very happy with the Alfa 700 (almost 1,5 year already) I have thought to step over to the 900 but will not do this(for the moment),the last weeks I have some minor issues with one of the jog wheels (hangs, but I think that this because of some dirt and hope I will be able to clean it),

Regards,
Paul

Hello Markus! Very sophisticated art work. Wonderful contrast and sharpness. Mysterious effect. Good luck!

Salut Markus,
Another superb capture. I like very much the lighting.
Very well done
Regards
Pierre

Markus,

What a great eye. You got the lighting just right. I think it is always fun to see these kinds of pictures were it looks like something that is not there.

I think I saw this guy on the street the other day.

Thanks - Bob

Hello Markus,
I am delighted that you stopped by at my gallery and liked looking at "Sweet dreams..". On returning here to look at what you have been seeing in nature, i saw this "alein" first.Markus, you seem to be in everyones thoughts here, as they go out and look at nature trying to see what you see through your eyes and mind.It is a style you have developed with distinct impressionist style.

Compositions like this when presented has to be capable of transmitting the very thoughts and shapes to the viewer that you as a composer saw in it.And here the "alien" you saw is exactly the "alein" we see as soon as we look at ... the open jaw,the pointed snoot and the eye... similar is the case with "strange eyes", "dreamland" etc.The dark BG (perhaps of the rock) works very well to highlight the alien formation.
Thanks for sharing
Cheers

Hi Markus,
the effect od depth , colours, tones and shapes really take place here. the combination gives yout alien is a very special way.
it is the art of seeing and the art of representing that pave the way into appreciation.
wonderful visual arts and graphical patterns that definitely captivate the view.
lovely and special.

Hi Markus, this is art of nature! A great idea and a very professional work in PP....i haven't words to comment a beauty like that, new ideas are always welcome,my best compliments,Luciano

Witaj Markus!
It is proper really to strenghten such shapes! They are faint and beautiful. Very good sharpness and contrast. Interesting!

Hello Markus,

You are Mr. Artistic at the moment!
How well you have composed this icy creation using the positive and negative space to advantage.
With the gaping mouth and the hollow eye, it would make a great addition to a children's monster book!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

You know......I see like this...sometimes in the most inconvenient places such as sitting on a throne in the smaller room and looking at the patterns in the tile. I do not mean that as a negative..I mean it as a way of sight...I see so many things...and things of import such as you...things which must be almost archetypes..and only a select few can understand....although this takes after a rather dramatic movie with an award or two...it still shows the well versed talent lying inside that head and behind those sunglasses....I cannot say more...
Bob

Peter
