[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi all!

In my last post I said the curtain has dropped and the show is over. But as you know, the actors usually don't just disappear behind the curtain once the theatre is over. Sometimes, they even appear several times in front of the public to thank it for the applause and the interest...

I have to tell you the story how I came to this picture. On that day, when I got up early in the morning, I realized that the night had been quite cold. I disposed of about an hour to quickly go down to the river and try to do a picture of an ice formation before the sun was too strong and before I had to go to work.

I hurried to my car, drove to the river and began to walk through the bed. But there wasn't any trace of ice. There still was quite a lot of frozen snow lying on the ground, but the cold during the night was too short to freeze the flowing water. First, I was a bit disappointed, but the first sunrays of the day, the blue sky and the cheerful songs of the birds told me that there are other things to appreciate during this hour.

After about 20 minutes of walking I came back to my car, opened the door and when I put my camera into the car I heard a cracking sound and felt something bursting under my feet... It was a magnificent icy surface. Indeed, the car was parked on the border of an unpaved narrow road that was full of water holes. And the water there was frozen!

I was so concentrated on my river when I had arrived and the fact that I usually have to walk through difficult and narrow canyons made that I didn't see these icy surfaces. There were some beside the road on earthy surfaces, too. I had about half an hour to take a couple of pictures...

This is magnificent, you find beauty in ice like I have never seen. One after the other, it is beautiful. I would like to know how big it is, what is represented in your picture? Is it big or very very small? Just to have an idea of the scale. Those beautiful curves in this beautiful ice add movement and remind me of this drawing we doodle while talking on the phone, having one curved line added on the other but touching on one point... this is now very well shown in the natural state, it is part of nature and inherent to its own inner law. Thanks Markus, c'est original et si bien vu!

Trust you are in great spirits:)

The composition speaks for itself and i see we have a little thing in common and that is "blue".The white ice and the cracked surface is a lovely design of streaked blue.And i have a pair of blues on show tonight:)
I appreciate your dedicated thinking and search for the topic of interest you hold passionatley to your heart.And as the word goes "when you really need something the whole universe conspires to give it to you".And here is what you wanted right under your nose.I like the strong impressions on the ice, the little dried up twig sticking out of the surface telling the tale of life that lived beneath this thin glass just a few months ago.The translucent character of ice makes the impressions stand out all the more showing fine contrast between the two.

Well handled exposure and lovely idea of a vertical composition.Of course i love the white frame that is further supported by the light grey thin frame.It gives a more fuller appearance to the composition giving the feel of open and not restricted boundaries.

I think this is a very appealing shot.

It reminds us of the beautiful and fascitating things that are all around us. It's strange what things ice will do. I wonder what causes these intricate curves.

Wonderful story, magnificent capture, great presentation.
I am sure the fairies and elves worked right through the night with their hammer and chisels, carving the most beautiful patterns and lines from the ice and left it at your car just in time for you to see it. Eine schöne Geschichte, die Du uns hier erzählst..und so musste es doch noch kommen. Aber jetzt ist der Winter halt vorbei, Du wirst jedenfalls wieder neue Sujets entdecken.

Hi Markus,
really a fantastic pattern and design you have spotted. Beautiful and so lovely with similar reprtition. What rules are used here?
Degree of coldness? The heat of the earth? The warm air that bring into being. Those are the things that creeps into my mind. still unanswered as Im a human being of no knowledge at all to the natural phenomena that we enjoy. i must say that this lovely finding opens more towards the littleness that we possess. ( I possess actually).
This brilliant presentation also allows me to appreciate the beauty that is not found here in my warm locality. thanks for the eyes that shared throughout the world.
Anyway, this is the melody ,the sound of music ,the tune that is brought through the sense of natural wave of TN to me. I used the gramaphone speakers of my fungi shot to communicate with you. : )
Markus, the line of communication is the love for nature.

Wow, Markus, it is the most artistic picture of a natural phenomenon I have ever seen!!
You deserve all the praise in the world for creating this image.
You know what? It will look different things to different people. To me, it looks like the billowing, fine silk sari draped around a pretty woman :-)!

Markus, grosser Meister der Details, dieses Bild ist Musik für die Augen. Eine vollendete Symphonie - ich bin verzaubert.

Gorgeous curving lines of frost on the ice. Your framing, with the major diagonals and two spots in opposite corners, is exceptional. Nature is the artist, but you have captured its work very well.

Your story just goes to show that one must start looking for subjects as soon as you walk out the door!
