Hi Dietrich,
Brilliant macro shot. Large DOF are hard to obtain in macro and was here necessaray to present well the old exuvia and the fresh adult. You did perfectly.
I've seen many exuvia before but never noticed the tracheas. Impressive and interesting to look at it. I never realised before that trachea's had to be renewed too.
composition is excelent too.

Beautiful 2-in-1 capture of the adorable insects with great details!
The sharpness and POV are perfect with nice color contrast, existing within the picture. The picture has superb focusing and the clarity is exceptionally well done.

I wish I had more time............
However I cannot pass this by without saying. Wonderful and detailed close-up. All around a special image, with features greatly seen. Just love the dotted details on the insect on the foreground, as well as its glassy wings. Thanks for sharing.

You obviously have an amazing backyard with many insects living there rent free, so the occasional pose is a small price to pay. Great presentation of these two stages. great note.

Hello Dietrich,

A very attractive and interesting photo, nice composition, excellent color and sharpness. An excellent note too. Thanks for explaining what the white tubes are. I took some photos of a Periodic Cicada right after it emerged from its nymphal "shell" and those white tubes are very visible in those shots too, always wondered what they were.
