Grasshopper-2

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I took this picture when walking in the mountains in Switzerland during the summer. This is the second picture of a series of macrophotos I posted in this web site and which is related to insects.
The grasshoppers are generally fairly easy to handle and take picture of. I took one in my hands and put it on a small branch I found on location. I had a macro ring flash attached to the marco lens and was able to close the aperture to f32 in order to underexpose the background and make it as dark as possible to avoid being distrated by it.
If some people may find this picture not sharp enough, it is because this is a clolor slide scanned using a relatively cheap Nikon slide scanner. Obvirously a same picture taken digitally with a camera such as the Nikon D100 would have been much sharper. |

Great macro!Every detail can be seen
I think dark backgrounds helps to take the attention to the image, good choice
I'm affraid of his eyes! He could kill ;-)
But ... it's maybe because of a fear! He don't like a camera!
Wonderful photo. Thanks!
Hello Francois, This is not a Cricket. Although in the same order (Orthoptera) class (insecta) & phylum (arthropod). The Cricket is closely related in the Family Gryllidae. This is a Differential Grasshopper I believe. Just thought I'd clear it up for you. TFS.
