| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Capra ibex or alpine ibex (also steinbock) is a strong mountain animal. Its living area is only in the Alps, at an altitude between 1600 and 3200 m above the sea.
It was hunted in the past for its magnificent horns and indeed the horns of the males can reach 100 cm.
Females have much shorter horns (up to 35 cm) so this one on the photo is a female. In fact, there were two of them, the other hiding behind the rock.
Location of the photo: Pilatus mountain on the path to its highest mark, Tomlinshorn.
Classification:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Artiodactyla
Family: Bovidae
Subfamily: Caprinae
Genus: Capra
Scientific name: Capra ibex
Common name: Alpine ibex

Nicely composed picture, great colors, detail and sharpness. Unusual pose, hence the title (my cat poses like that!)
Cheers
