Wow this is really a great close-up. Amazing colours and very pleasant light. The patterns on the insects back is fine and petite. Once again a beautiful photo from your lens. Straightforward but so striking. It reminds me of summer. Thanks for sharing.

I must congratulate you for posting the first ever picture of this Moth on TN, Anne.
You have dug out a picture from your archives that has tremedous documentary value.
Moreover, the image bears your stamp -- highly aesthetic presentation of the subject perched on a bright yellow flower. I can see its probocis half buried in the flower.
The subject is in sharp focus with good details on its back.
Well done and TFS.

Liebe Anne,
ein hoch erfreulicher Blick Sonne von einer Walliser Bergwiese im Spätsommer! Tut gut an verregneten Tagen wie heute.
Sehr ansprechendes lebendiges Bild, präzise, detailreich - und zugleich von malerischer Sanftheit. Die pelzige Eule ist perfekt diagonal ins Bild gesetzt und wendet sich in einladender Weise rüsselnd den Betrachtenden zu. Bewundere Deine exakte Bestimmung - bei so vielen Arten und wenig übersichtlicher oder schwer verfügbarer Bestimmungsliteratur bei Noctuiden. Habe ähnliche oder idente tagaktive Eulen auch gelegentlich beobachtet, mich aber noch nicht über deren mühsame Bestimmung gemacht. Die Herren Denis und Schiffermüller waren offenbar - obwohl in der Umgebung Wiens am Werk - so fleißig wie die Schweizer und gaben jener Eule einst ihren schönen Namen. :)

Je suis un ignare en ce qui concerne les mites et j'ai tjrs considéré ces insectes comme nuisibles!
En y regardant de plus près je doit bien avouer que c'est un bel insecte, par sa netteté ta photo rend bien la texture des ailes, la lumière et les couleurs sont superbes, une belle présentation

Your wonderful shot looks like charming sun with attractive visitor. You have reflected all details of the moths and flower terrifically. I can feel texture of the moth. Sharpness if the best as well as colour rendition. Diagonal composition is sweet too. My congratulations. Perfect picture.

It is an interesting blend....like the frog and the prince...one is pretty and other not as much..but together they make an odd couple Anne. Fine colours well saturated and seen here in the US!

A very fine macro of C. cuprea, a species that is widespread in nearly the whole of Sweden but rare in Denmark, though it is a long time since I last saw it.
The POV, sharpness, DOF and composition on the yellow composite flower are excellent and make this an excellent illustration of this Noctuid moth.

Liebe Anne,

während ich etwas schmalspurig im TN zugange bin, schlagen Du und Peter mächtig los. Eine sehr ansehliche und selten gesehene Eule porträtierst Du technisch perfekt. Bei dieser grossen, graubraunen Eule darf die Blüte optisch konkurrieren, sie tut es und wie. Ein Hingucker!
