LYCAENA HIPPOTHOE EURYDAME (Hoffmannsegg,1806)

Purple-edged Copper
Kleiner Ampferfeuerfalter
Cuivré écarlate ou Argus satiné changeant

This little colorful Lycaenidae is the alpine form of L. hippothoe. It lives on my meadow next to Lycaena virgaurea and at first I didn't notice that it was another species. However the underwings are quite different and L. Hippotoe eurydame seems to be more hairy and darker around the abdomen.
This butterfly lives on altitude (1500-2000m)and appears in one generation only, from June to Septemeber depending of the altitude. It lives on humid meadows. The foodplant is Polygonum bistorta and Rumex species.

This is my 300th picture and in one week I will already be three years on TN. I still think that TN is a great site and I would like to thank all TN-members who helped me during this time and gave feedback to my pictures. It was always highly appreciated.

Anne
I have no proper time for decent critique, but this is a wonderful image filled with lots of warm colours. Looking at the colours reminds me of a cosy fireplace. Congratulations also with your 300th posting. What an achievement. I still have a long way to go. Thanks for all your lovely contributions to the site. Although I cannot always stop at each one, they do not go unnoticed. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Anna

Hi Anne,
A nice capture of this beautiful copper butterfly. Very good composition but I think a higher DOF could have been helpful in much more sharpness. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Wow...what a long and good time Anne...I wonder in this one if the flash went off...if so then it is subtle and if not then you really played well with the lighting..and the focal crispness could not be better!
Bob

Hi Anne.Congrats on 300 pictures and 3 years on TN. Orange on Orange. The Purple-edged Copper is a butterfly which i have not seen before so thanks for posting this one. You have taken it with fine detail and sharp focusing. It stands out from the plain BG. I see a bonus of a small fly . well done TFS.

Witaj Anne.
This butterfly is a bit different than these living in Poland, with such pattern I did not see. This orange flower seems to be attractive to butterflies. The lighting and colours are very nice.
Thanks for sharing
Best wishes
Alina

Hello Anne

Stunning shot for its perspective, associated colors in the picture. Really cool how the insect and flowers have the same colors and you have captured that aspect beautifully! Interesting notes as well. Congrats on 300!

Bonjour Anne,
As I’m just back from a trip to see my son and two grand-daughters my critiques replies are delayed.
Congratultions on this fine 300th posting of the male of this ssp. of L hippothoe. +: Sharpness, DOF, pose, POV, BG, composition, colours and lighting.
-: none and I like the composition with the orange flower of Hieraceum aurantiacum, the colours being exactly the same. A wonderful shot to celebrate the occasion!

Merci et bonne journée,
Amicalement,
Ivan

Grtazie e complimenti.
Buona giornata

Es realmente un placer disfrutar de tus trabajos Anne !
Como en otras de tus tomas, sabes dar al conjunto una visión diferente y amplia que enriquece a la especie. Un estilo que me encanta.

Hello Anne
Congratulations on your 300th post. Wow,you have a really great album too. You've captured this colourful Purple-edged Copper so well. The lighting, detail and composition is excellent. I love to see all the fine hairs on both the butterfly and flowers. Great note.

ciao Anne!

Philippe.
