Hi,
I know how difficult to find one of this hawk moths and capturing on flight, one should be lucky too. You could have used on flash for this image to fill the shadows of the moth. Very good attempt and decent result. tfs.

Hi Anne,

A very good shot of very fast moving moth, (I had one in the garden for about 30 seconds and no chance to get a shot). Good focus and dof, allowing movement in the wings. Colours and natural, and a nice composition with the flower.

Very difficult subject, and getting both focus and light on the head required a combination of skill and good fortune. Nice balance of shutter speed and aperture, also. A very exciting image.

Hi Anne i have only ever seen one once in the garden a few years ago. You have taken a good inflight shot of this one. We can se how large the body is and covered in hair. Taken with good detail and colours. Well done TFs.

Félicitations pour cette première! Bien que ce superbe papillon ait été montré souvent sur TN, cela reste un défi de le photographier. Personnellement, je ne l'ai jamais rencontré depuis que j'ai mon objectif macro... Tu as pu parfaitement le saisir, avec sa trompe, ses antennes et son corps bien net, de même que la fleur. Bravo! un'altra splendida macro in una composizione perfetta in ogni dettaglio, mi piace molto la dinamicità, ma soprattutto le ali della falena arcuate leggermente in avanti, quasi ad abbracciare il fiore, eccellente nitidezza e bellissimi colori.

A very interesting species, the body/wing ratio seems so impossible for flying and still it does!
Captured very well this super fast action, still at 1/1600 the motion is visible! Very nice job, TFS!

Bonjour Anne,
This is also the first for me to see this Moth that at first glance appeared to be a bat hovering over the flower. This moth must be low in numbers as I have not seen many of them even on Nature shows on Television. A great capture for your archives, and for us a gift to see one up close.
