EUPLAGIA (PANAXIA) QUADRIPUNCTARIA (Poda, 1761)

Jersey Tiger
Russischer Bär
Ecaille chinée

Family: Arctiidae
Subfamily: Arctiinae

Size: 42-52mm
Distribution: South and Central Europe
Habitat: Sunny, humid or dry places
Foodplant caterpillars: Lamium sp.

The pink flower is an Eupatorium cannabinum (Wasserdost)

Yesterday I was back in my hometown and met another TN-member Robi (rdfoto) who spends his holidays in this region. We went together to a little lake near Sion(Montorge), which was a place I used to go often in my childhood. It is now a natural reserve.
Suddenly I saw for the first time in my life this quite big day-active moth. You can imagine how quickly we took some shots of this amzing creature!
We had a great time there, seeing different kinds of dragonflies, birds and even a Viperine snake.

Hallo Anne!

Bon WE Jacqueline

Hallo Anne
The colours captured of this Jersey Tiger is really very special, and the sunlight added to the beauty of it. The presentation as a whole is bright and very pleasant to look at. The patterns and vividly coloured inside wings of the moth reminds me of a fire lily. The detail is seen well and with great clarity. It is a lovely close up, which have a magnetism to it. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Anna

Ciao Anne,
Grazie e complimenti
Buona serata e buona domenica.

Maurizio

A very beautiful shot, Anne. While I can see that the light was pretty harsh, you've treated it very effectively!
Bravo!
Goldy

ciao Anne!

Bonjour Anne,
