[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This net-winged insect, Libelloides coccaius, has been presented a few times on TN. I had seen it some time in my native Valais, but never got a chance to take a picture. So one morning in front of my chalet in the mountains ,I saw some strange insect flying up and down in the air. I never had seen them before at this place. Approaching I recognized the Libelloides coccaius.(I thought they were living in less high altitudes).
I was so nervous that I didn't make the best picture, but I made the choice to present anyway this insect.
Some more precisions: It is a Neuroptera (which includes lacewings, antlions..)of the family of Ascalaphidae (in french we call this insect ascalaphe)
It has a size of 42-45mm and lives especially in dry areas. It eats small insects.
Here we have a male specimen.

Hello Anne,
I've never seen this insect in nature. I like it. Maybe I would change composition.

Ah, Anne,

Dieter

Hi Anne,
Excellent macro shot!
Nice DoF, extremely well focused.

Quel insecte incroyable!

Fine specimen of the Neuroptera family, Anne.
Yes, I think we have seen this insect on TN earlier too but not all that frequently.

The insect has very attractive features including those long and shapely antennae and that hook-like thing at the tail-end.
Maybe the whites on the wings are slightly OE, but that does not affect the overall appeal of this picture.
Well done and TFS.

Magnifique, quels détails et netteté.
Bravo
Marie

Guten Tag, Anne -
Peter

Hi Anne,
Outstanding shot of this beautiful insect. Such lovely colours and sharp details with spot-on focus and a smooth BG highlighting the insect admirably. I like your POV, those huge antennaes and the weird shape of its wings. Very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hallo Anne,
interessantes Jugendstilinsekt!

Hi Anne

I took a look at your older photos today, pictures that i've missed being gone in the summer, and i found this splendid macro.
I was also charmed by Ascalaphids, but i was never lucky enough to find one and take some pictures.
This is a true wonder, with impeccable focus on the insect and splendid contrast on your subject.
The shallow DOF does well to isolate your subject from the BG and the POV you took here is also terrific!
Wonderful work overall!

Bravo and TFS

Good sharpness, but I regret the POV which is to me as an identity picture, so romantism is missing (and it is important for photography)
