TN excursion:

A 6 mm female cucumber spider (Aranea; Araneidae; Araniella cucurbitina; Kürbisspinne) is sitting on an Oxeye daisy, Leucanthemum vulgare. It is an orb-weaver spider, building its net right inside the flower.

Anne (anel) pointed out this spider in her yard to me. The problem was to photograph it with the white background. Our techniques differ in that I use a dual flash. To avoid overexposure I held one of the flashes sidewise.

You became a master of the technique with the dual flash! The white colour is perfectly exposed, all the details in the petals are visible, and the dark tones are not underexposed. Well done!

This is one of most beautifull [or even most beautifull] of our spiders. Excellent details, textures and colours. Very nice composition with big [for spider] flower. Interesting technique that works very well.

Lieber Dieter,
Da ist sie also die Kürbisspinne. Du konntest mit Deinem Ringblitz noch ein schönes scharfes Bild herzaubern, mir hatte das natürliche Licht nicht mehr für ein Bild gelangt. Interessant auch das Netz zu sehen ;die farbige Spinne wendet uns den unteren Teil des Körpers zu, was ich damals gar nicht gesehen hatte.
