Grass

Nobody can count your number.
Ice and fire can't do you any harm.
You've learnt to resist,
And to accept the conditions
As harsh as they may be.

You help the trees to paint
The Blue Planet green.
Here and there you also like
To wear your golden skirt,
Laying still, or swinging in the wind.

You're the place where lovers meet,
Where people play the ball.
You're battlefield and pilgrim path,
Hunting ground or shelter.
If only you could tell…

Hi all!

Another souvenir from our common trip to the Moosalp (anel; meyerd). While Anne and Dieter were chasing butterflies and insects, I tried out my new heavy "artillery" (Sony 70-200mm, f 2.8, sony 1.4 converter). I took the picture in RAW, applied slight corrections before the import in PS, then level corrections, quite strong attenuation of the bright tones, sharpness. Finally cropped and saved as JPG for TN.

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Markus. This i would hang on my office wall i find it very relaxing . i like all the shades of green in the grasses. What is the blue colour in the middle is it water ?. TFS.
Nick..

Hi Markus,
I like your simple abstract pattern composition. It might have been interesting to zoom in even closer to isolate a blue and green composition. It is amusing that my first reaction to seeing all that grass is "TICKS!" We just returned from Glacier National Park which is experiencing the worst infestation in the history of the park! It was awful and the animals are suffering. Needless to say way stayed OUT OF THE GRASS. It might be attributed to global warming... yuck!

Hello Markus,

I have to agree with Nick.
This is such a relaxing shot!
We are bombarded daily with visual images to excite us or attract us ... this just lets us gaze and enjoy without overstating or understating; make your own decision.

The hint of water in the centre is so important as it defines the composition.
(I have a shot of some bullrushes which I have never posted, thinking only I would enjoy them. I may change my mind!)

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Marcus,
You're obviously a master of patterns and of beautiful poems! This reminds me of a pattern used in woven cloth where the threads are crossed in the middle. The patterns in nature are endless and always beautiful!
Many thanks and regards, Ulla

I do not want to sound out of sync here, but I'll be honest, I do find green relaxing, but is it this green?Grass has many shades, and turns many shades, as well, depending upon the moisture.Dewy grass is supposed to be a good de-stresser, not long grass!
And I agree that for some, there are colours that are relaxing, each unto his own!But I've yet to hear of a combination of colours being relaxing!I would have preferred just one coloured grass, in this composition, the blue just distracts, and adds to the stress!
If it were not for that little blue, I'd have posted it to my favs! But from the perspective of Creation, it's beautiful!'Where you stand is Holy ground', and all of Gods' creations are beautiful! And while this shot is worthy in terms of posting, it definately lacks your signature style!
Cheers!
Goldy

Hi Markus

Great composition - wonderful - you really have an 'eye' for this sort of shot. The band of water really adds to the shot.

James

Your image pulls the brain in two directions..one part of me wants to search for a place to focus and then since I cannot..I start getting a bit dizzy....I see this scene every day but have NEVER sen it portrayed this way. I think it is the angle for one...I cannot easily get into that angled position but beyond that...it is indeed poetic...a bit like Ginsberg "Howl" albeit:-)
Bob

Hi Markus...Interesting and different composition...Well done, good point ....Picture and Poem excellent...All the best,Leyla

Hello Markus

A lovely composition, the water gives the shot a very abstract and interesting look.
The lighting is very good and the colours appear well saturated.
Another work of art.

Hi Markus,
Outstanding shot of these grasses growing thick and long among the watery marsh. The bright sunlight gives the image a fantastic glow and blue water seen from among the grasses looks great. Very neat and sharp image with lovely green colour. Very simple but so beautiful and pleasing. Excellent POV and very nice composition. Kudos.
TFS.

Well done.

Bonjour,

Sehr fein gestaltet, dein Bild.

Hi Markus

Another impressive abstract shot from you, my friend!
I quite like this diresction your posts are taking...instead of concentrating on one element, you make out compositions that include lots, but still seem simpler :) A slight paradox that just goes to show how well the photos are thought of and taken.
Here, too, a splendid blend of colors, an impressive mosaic of lines and a geometrical composition that just looks wonderful.

Bravo and TFS

Francine

Hello Markus,
thanks to your response on my ET Caterpillar. I like the way you put the never ending argument of photographic elements , creative photography and beautful shot. Sometimes all these never meet and its hard to say. But you strike the concepts well.
just like the grass above, they are beautiful and I do not know what to say more.
Well presented shot.

regards,
Foozi
