Nice butterfly on a nice flower, good colors too, maybe less DOF would have given more attention to the subjet. The composition is fine, but I would crop the pink part at the right of the picture, which is IMHO distracting

What I would like to have seen in your breif note was some details of where this was shot and under what conditions, eg. was it taken in the open in a garden or in a Butterfly farm?

This looks like an African Monarch Danuaus chrysippus but I am no lepidoptera expert. As for the flower, a declared weed in out country! I would crop on the right or consider rotating 180º. Nice image

Very good coules and DOF. As Callie said, the Lantana is considered a weed in SA and they spread like wild fire. To rid an area of this, you need cooperation of every property owner in order to eradicate this. We try to clean our properties three to four times a year, and we still stuggle to get rid of this. Good work

Nice capture with good colours and sharpness. The Lantana may be a weed in South Africa, in Denmark we buy them as potted plants, and after seeing tons of photos with butterflies sitting on Lantanas I went and bought them for my hanging pots this year - they haven't generated any influx of butterflies here, though..

Nice photo Jacques,
You have took it on a butterfly farm. You know nothing of butterflies but you already made good photo's of them. To made this one perfect, I think you had also the little purple flower on the right side. Very good firs one. Good job.

Great capture of this Danaus plexippus Jacques. They are not to be seen in Denmark any more - the last one seen was dead and was found in Thy in Northern Jutland back in 1978.

Very sharp and clear picture, good dof and well blurred background.

Wonderfully sharp and clear picture! The DOF is excellent and I like the framing having the butterfly on one side and the green habitat on the other...

PS: Would you mind if I made a print of your picture? I'm busy to create a memory-cards play for my grand-daughter for the next Christmas and I'm not able to find such a sharp picture in my own work. :o(

I've notec you on the TE and decided to check out your photos here as well. I like this one the most. I know nothing myself about butterflies, but love beautiful pictures. Fantastic coloures and sharpness. Thanks for posting.
