As for the photo, I always consider these trees attractive so this is a lovely photo. Great textures and lovely colours. Nice sharp details as well

Hello Alex,

Great seasonal shot! Folks around here call it White Fir, for the obvious reason of its leaves colour. It is also considered the most beautiful Fir specie living in Romania.
I also wish you a Happy New Year and a Merry Chistmas (in the cronologic order, as I know that most Ukrainians celebrate Christmass sometime at 6th or 7th January).

Juniper, spruce and fir trees grow in my home in Indian Himalayas too, my friend. Sitting here in the desert of Saudi Arabia, I think of them and miss them. Thanks for showing this tree that symbolizes festivities and celebrations all over the world.

Dear Alexei,
you must be a wonderful guy, to send us all these very personal wishes. Ukraina has an awfully tortured history and I hope for you and all Ukrainians that the country can finally get into calmer waters soon.
Your pic shows this interesting pattern of seed ripening on the cones. I happen to recall that the angles of the different furrows are fixed by Avogadro's series in the number of seeds per circle (Avrogadro's series is: 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21, 34...). Each number is the sum of the two last foregoing numbers. And as to why this follows Avogadro's series has something to do with the packaging of cells in the growing bud, and some asymmetry in cell division (Uugh, I don't undstand it really). But you photographed it!
