It is a part of regional landscape park " Muravian way " in Tokmak area. Called Red Mountain (because the soil here have a lot of manganese and it add red colour).

This way - one of the most important strategic and trade roads XVI - XIÕ centuries, which connected the south of Ukraine and Russia. Also it was used by Crimean tartars for armed assaults to Ukrainian territories. Up to XVII² century any constant settlements of the people were not along this ways . The way has passed through deserted Tavrian steppe. Only high grass called "murava" grew here (it gave the name of this way). This grass was so high, that as people, so oxes were not visible through. Here were happened often collisions between Cossacks and tartars. After armed cities and fortresses were built here at XVII² century, this way often used by Cossacks, and also by embassies and trade caravans.

After establishment of the Soviet authority this area were forgotten. But this place in Tokmak area is really unique. Here, in a valley of the rivers Kurkulak and Chungul are located more than 200 ancient burial places. Here legendary Vladimir Monomach in 1103 has broken polovetcian army. Here in 1981 the archaeologists have dug out Chungul tumulus, the ancient burial place of polovetcian khan. And here the fossil animals with age near 3 mln years (southern elephants, deer, horse) was found in 1999.

This is a beautiful composition. The eye is naturally drawn between the slopes to sabvour the multitude of beautiful natural colours they have to offer. The photo is accompanied by a full and interesting note. Thanks for sharing this.

Hello Eleana,
Very interesting place and excellent note. I'm sure there are plenty interesting animals living in that gorge.
Composition is very good, maybe a bit too centralised. I would sharpen the image a bit.
TFS and best greetings,
Michal
