Another shot from my Ukrainian trip. It's full growth caterpilar of Aporia crataegi (family Pieridae).
There are a lot of imago pictures of these species but there are no pictures of caterpilar ;-D
More informations about this species you can find here and here. |

Hi Chris,
This is a beautiful macro with agreeable tones of colors, good details and composition. A smaller aperture could have made the head sharper but this is minor nit. Well seen!

Hello Chris,
thank you for posting a picture of the crataegi-caterpillar. The well-composed picture shows
the caterpillar and its environment in a most attracive way. Both, the insect and the plant
are presented with high sharpness and in well-balanced light.
I think it was not easy to detect the caterpillar.
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Chris,
Wonderful shot of this Caterpillar with very impressive sharpness and colours. The dew drops on its spikes look great and you have captured it in a fine pose. I like your idea to show the butterfly as a inset - makes the image so complete. Excellent DOF, POV and composition. Kudos.

Hi Chris.
Amazing shot of the insect. Its surroundings created by twig with nice fresh leaves are superb. DOF is perfect. BG is wonderful and all main objects are very sharp and detailed. Bravo. Excellent work.
Alexei.
