Hi Alexei, I think the economy is effecting us all in some way. and i am sure it will take a long time for a change. This has not stopped you from getting this first class close up of the Goldfinch. i like the pose with the bird looking up. With good detail and natural colours. All withinteresting notes . It's so good to see another of your wonderful posts. You have mastered your teleconverter! You captured this Goldfinch in a lovely pose showing off how beautiful he is. Colors and details of his face, eye and feathers are wonderful. A beautiful setting and composition.

Hello Alexei
This is a superb capture of a Goldfinch with great focusing from you to pick him out from the tangle of branches and seed pods that surround him.
The sharpness is superb with your new 1.4 convertor attached to your fine lense although I do see in your shooting info it has still registered it at 200mm so there may be a slight compatability issue between the third party convertor and your Nikon equipment.

I like that kind of photos. Natural labirynth of twigs and branches with beautiful bird hidden inside. Also great blue sky and another bird in background ;-)

Hi Alexei,
you were right to post this "Distelfink" as it is called in german. It is indeed a suitable Ambassador of Odessa spring! I know for trying it myself that it is quite hard to get close enough for a good shot, usually you have to find the right angle too because of the light. You set standards high, my friend.

thanks for the nice words and wishes of my duck.
This is a very fine picture of this beautiful bird.
Your test end up in very good way, the Kenko 1,4x Pro DG is a very good converter, I have own one and it is good as my Canon extender. With Canon lenses you for full exif with correct data.

The picture is well taken with lovely natural colours and with good sharpness and details. The surrounding is maybe a bit busy but that's nature, only to accept.

I also have a D700, it is a great camera, but like You do, I also have to be to close to the main subjet even with a 1.5X kenko when use a FX mode. Need a 300f/4 but no money

I'm glad to discover this fine picture of yours. It seems that you are well familiarized with your equipment and the result you show us here is the proof of this. The picture is not only well composed (maybe the branch on the left is a little bit too important), but also perfectly sharp and well balanced as far as the lighting is concerned. I also appreciate your narrative notes.

This bird is so beautiful and lovely with sharp colours and feather.
The branch gives a good graphic effect to the framing of the bird. Lovely presentation as the blue sky give a pleasant effect.

I feel you underrate yourself and your skills.
This is a fine shot of the goldfinch which, in my garden, is a very timid bird. I love the pov, showing the darker markings on the breast which are often difficult to see. The rest of the markings are sharply captured, too.
The slight tilt of the head gives this beautiful bird character. Well done.

We call this Goldfinch "PINTASILGU" in local Portuguese folklore. It sings MOST BEAUTIFULLY.... only the male.
GREAT IMAGERY.

Hi Alexei,
Your shot of the goldfinch is superb! I shot one myself the other day with my little Lumix, but it wanes in comparison to yours so I won't even bother to post mine. That's the price I paid for getting a Lumix...fantastic light sensitivity, but NADA when it comes to telephoto!
