WOW!!
What a beautiful thing!! I love this kind of flower with those warm beautiful colors. The sharpness and details are great as well as the DOF, confirming your apretiation of Sigma 70-300. I should say this butterfly is a good specimen of Maniola jurtina.

This is a fine capture with a lens that I was thinking of getting as it is possible to take excellent macros, like this of the Meadow Brown, at a distance. I can and do take macros with my long lens but I don't think I can achieve this sharpness and general high quality.

That Sigma lens really does nicely doesn't it. It is a great buy for the price....and then you add your own magic eye and voila! A great picture which apparently needed very little PP. Super duper!

Hola Alexei: como le sacas provecho a ese sencillo y popular Sigma !! Yo también lo tengo aunque para macro casi siempre utilizo el Sigma 105 mm como podrás ver en mis indicaciones. Creo que el 70-300 es un excelente objetivo si se dan buenas condiciones de luz y lo interesante de las cosas a veces es saberles sacar su partido. Tu fotografía es excelente, bien podría decirse que utilizaste un Canon IS jajaja. Los colores son muy bonitos y el enfoque casi perfecto, eso se aprecia en el exterior de las alas, ya que si no lo haces bien siempre salen borrosas. Buen encuadre. La flor la desconozco pero parece preciosa.

The result of your experiments and comparison between the lenses makes me a very happy man, i admit :) I feel more relaxed thinking ahead for the next season of macros, knowing that you think that our lens is the best for the job (especially considering the competition, sicnce you have a lot of great lenses).
You photo here is outstaning and serves as a great example for your conclusion
I love the sharpness of every details as well as the lovely bokeh created in the BG. The exposure is also terrific and it reproduces all the colors in a very beautiful and well saturated way.
Exceptional composition and DOF, too, rooving the level of professionalism you have reached.
