You are a very modest person in saying this is not a macro to your best satisfaction, Alexei. In fact, it is a masterpiece!
The finest aspect of this capture is the colourful vividness of the pollen that the bee has amassed on its limbs. Your caption describes the hilarity of the situation very aptly -- a greedy pollen-gatherer at his most efficent!!
Ha, ha, ha!!!
The bands on the abdomen are also very well captured. There is an unmistakable synergy between the flower and the subject.

Like King Midas of Biblical fame...he counts his pollen as the king counted his gold..and he is dripping in the pollen as well.. I am hoping we see many more next year in the honey bee area..with ongoing problems and parasites...fine job. Nice image and I suspect we shall see more summer shots from many folks...well done.

Hello Alexei,
What a superb macro of a busy bee at work. Technically this is first class with good use of flash to illuminate the possibility of a very small aperture and adequate shutterspeed. Excellent composition and colours. I like the feel of hard concentrated work by the bee, shown by its posture, the POV and the richness of the pollen.

this is like being in another world

the impact of the colours alone are very impressive..macro details are superb
what is most interesting for me are the short stubby wings..
i understand bees only see in the infra red or ultra violet..one or the other..wavebands
leaving the question..
why do the flowers seem so beautiful...to us!

I am green with jealousy. This image proofs your success as photographer in something that I am trying for a long time now. A capture of a bee on a flower, BUT also a bee in focus. This is truly a colourful and most outstanding image. The clarity of the details of both the flower and the bee is super. A terrific close up with great focus and super sharpness. I love the way you filled the frame with the subject, this way bringing it closer to the eye, making it more visible to appreciate the finer details, and here I especially refer to the fine body hairs, and all that yellow pollen dust.
