In flight Gull shots are a dime a dozen. This one is the extreme exception. I think you know what I mean. It has a quality which I cannot describe without going into depth, which brings out many other qualities..and so on...and this makes it a simple, yet ironically complex picture in two ways of thinking. Boil all that obfuscation down and we have a good image of teh gull..you do your work and homeweork very well..

Hi Alexei, i can understand your concerns over the background, but personally i feel that this is perfect, because it shows this gull in true context with it's surroundings.
That aside, this has to be one of the best in flight shots i've seen. I am no expert by any means, but the sharpness, details, DPOF and exposure on the white feathers all seem amazing to me...oh and i think this seasons line is fashion is very nice too ;o)

This is realy wonderful Alexie. I love the sharp detail and well exposed features of this bird's wings, etc. The pose shows the bird in movement and the blurred BG reveals the environment. Hello Alexei,
At first I found the OOF birds in the BG of this fine in-flight capture of the Black-headed Gull a bit distracting. But the eye quickly adapts to concentrate on the gull and when it does so, it is a joy to see the position in flight, the lighting and as always in your shots, the technical excellence.
No HP22 this time but where's the wedding ring? :))

your background although busy is well out of focus..only slight areas imping on the clarity and detail of the flight shape and could have been cloned easily..at the legs and upper wing edge..
at least you filled the frame

Fascinante toma Alexei. Gran elegancia en esos blancos tan puros y una potente luz muy bien controlada ( increible luz...). This is an splendid capture!
I like a lot the magnificent lighting here, details on the whites are so good ones, as well as the gray ones along the wing's feathers.
For me, it doesn't bother the busy background, as it works like a reference of the big group of birds there and the how its natural environment looks like.

This is an incredible shot - the BG is great - the blur gives the birds the look of a Manet Impressionistic painting and is wonderful, especially with the razor-sharp gull frozen - in superb detail - in front.

This is a very nice shot from you and i really like the original angle you approached here - taking advantage of the black & white colors to make a parallel with a wedding :)
The BG you are talking about in your note i find quite nice actually. Most of the in-flights we see it's true have a uniform BG, but i rather like this one because i know it's natural and it brings something extra - with all those black and white "dots".
The sharpness of the gull itself is impeccable and the exposure is simply perfect here - with a great attention given to the bright white areas.

The bird flying was perfectly captured, details and "freeze" are almost perfect. I not dislike BG with bird, but I found that could be a bit of excess in PP, its the only I can point to you, the rest is 10 points.

I also can not belive that you just started to take pictures of flying birds. This is the second one, and the second which is really great! I like the way you exposed a gull, it is simply "comming from the host"!!! And the pose of the bird - lovely! It looks like someone who is looking for something (are watching at you just before it said: "Alexei, you are so talented photographer, take me a picture!" :>

This is the second photo of your story from ferry line Ilyichevsk – Poti, and I am waiting for the next one! :)

I really like this picture with the blurred bg with other blurred birds and this ons so sharp and so well focused!! The white exposition is astonishing and the wings position very nice! Personally I prefer sea-birds with a water bg instead of sky and the same picture with no blurred birds would have been wonderful too...

Amazing amazing shot, the lighting is stunning and crisp white dress of this one is surely a million dollar wedding gown, designed to perfection by the Big Designer and it is presented to perfection by a master photographer by you.
