This is an excellent shot with perfect exposure, correct white balance and lovely natural colour.
And it's well composed with excellent sharpness and it a very good pose of the pigeon.

Hi Alexei,

I don't have the right words to express how wonderful this shot is! You froze him in an amazing position with the wings raised and the tail feathers spread. The colors and details are fantastic. I love the yellow eye and the iridescent colors of his throat. A perfect composition against the blue sky.

Good timing Alexei, together with perfect illumination and the right choice of shutter speed to freeze wing motion resulted in an expertly exposed shot against an azure sky. Thanks for this superb image my friend.

This is not an easy capture but you placed yourself perfectly as the pigeon is braking.
Did you use the excellent AF tracking of the D700 or did you capture it in the single shot AF mode?
Either way I pass on my hearty congratulations on such a wonderful capture.

A very dove-like look to this one. The capture is also significant in the PEACE for which this could symbolize...for a dove does not hold anything over a pigeon. As Hillary Clinton said "It takes a Village"

Though the Feral Pigeon is common across the world it takes an expert photographer like you to take such a fine shot of one in flight. The frozen wing position is wonderful and the POV, the exposure and sharpness make this a top class shot against the blue sky.

I have seen this picture and meant to come and critique you about it, it is so beautiful! I love the pov under the pigeon and I think pigeons are beautiful birds and unknown to many of us. Hi Alexei,
one more stunning "action shot" from you! How you managed such good light against the bright sky is your secret. As biology students we used to cook the breast muscles(Pectoralis major and minor!) of town pigeons but I still have respect of their capacity to lift the bird.

I will be on a bicycle trip for a while. See you again on TN in June!

I notice with pleasure that you go on taking pictures of flying birds. Is this becoming your speciality? Anyway, you already are the master of that kind of photography and you perfectly know how to take advantage of your material. This picture is superb! It's crystal clear, although the bird is moving.
