Another photo from Crimea Peninsula. These time a landscape. It is my firs landscape on treknature and it is dedicated to Radek (cicindela). Yesterday Radek posted a very similar photo as in my workshop. I was planning to post that photo these week :-) He was faster than me :-) So I decided to change my plans for the next post a little bit. It is a view from the fortress Çufut Qale. A little bit different than my workshop and Radek photo.

At the beginning of August the Crimean Peninsula is very hot and sunny place. All the plants are dried. Çufut Qale is becoming a kingdom of lizards. We have seen many individuals of Podarcis taurica lying in the sun.

Podarcis taurica (family Lacertidae)
Length of body: up to 240 mm
Distribution: Southern parts of Former Yugoslavia Republic, Greece, European part of Turkey and Souther Ukraine
Habitat: Grassy areas

Çufut Qale sometimes spelled as Chufut Kale is a historic fortress in Crimea, near Bakhchisaray. Çufut Qale was historically a center for the Qaray community. The fortress was build probably in VI century but there are also some information that it is much younger (from the X or even XII century). In the times of The Crimean Khanate (Khanate of Crimea) from 1441 to 1783 the fortress was known as Qırq Yer.

You can find more information abut our trip to Crimea in Radek’s note :-)

Hello Krzysztof,
Wonderful capture.I liked POV,colors,DOF,framing and composition a lot.I'm not sure about comparing results but i think a fill flash could helped for illumiating front dark parts.Nevertheless great work!
TFS..:-)

Witam serdecznie!
Pozdrawiam,
Radek

Hi Krzysztof,

Nice image, seems a little bit scary and a deep decent behind the wall!
Good colors and an amazing sky!

TFS,
Oki

Combined with the lizard picture and Radomir's version of the same view, you have given us a wonderful insight into one of the most beautiful places in Crimea, Krzysztof.
I thought your lizard picture would do well to stand alone as a separate post here on TN. Nevertheless, it forms an important part of the complete package you have presented today.
The view taken through a natural arch formed by the rock is really fascinating. That flat-topped wooded white cliff looks breathtakingly beautiful.
What a pleasure to share with you the experience of travelling through exotic Crimea with Radomir as the narrator of the journey!
I envy you guys.
Thanks and take care.

Hello Krzysztof,
Great shot with excellent details and composition.

That is quite a vista Krsysztof. Looking through the "window" is an effective technique. It adds drama to your image. I would like to see just a little more texture in the dark areas. I did a quick workshop to see what it would look like. Thanks for sharing your beautiful part of the world.

Czesc Krzys,
Bardzo ladne zdjecie - niby to samo co u Radka, ale nie tak samo :-) Bardzo podoba mi sie obramowanie krajobrazu przez okno skalne. To bardzo dodaje glebi. Niezwykla ta gora - co to bylo? Wapien?
A swoja droga zabawne, bo ja dzisiaj tez dalem fotke komplementarna do ostatniej radkowej - tej albanskiej :-)

Evelynn was right with rotating the image. It is a bit skewed...

Serdecznosci,
Michal

Hi Krzysztof

Indeed a very similar capture with Radomir's one. A very interesting dedication! ;)
I like the very original with the natural stony frame...very refreshing :)
The view is quite spectacular and the place, as i also said in Radek's critique, is definately worth visiting.
I also like the Podarcis taurica shot from the WS...it's a bit more colorfull than the ones we have here...

One more thing: i must say that i admire you for making such large and beautiful outings - all of you biologists - and also have a lot of fun while doing it...it's something we should probably do more often.

Bravo and TS
Horia

Hi Krzysztof,
What a magnificent view. Excellent control on the exposure and wonderful idea on the natural framing. Details and colors are spot on.
I am sure that this is a wonderful area to roam around without meeting too many people.
