Hi Andy,
I agree with you, this is a really photogenic subject to shot at.
I like the fact that you didn't crop the picture, despite it would have been great to see a close-up of the head and their georgeus eyes, beak's texture and long hairs.
In this full portrait, we can also appreciate their subtle pink legs and the way he seems to be posing for you.
I must say I liked so much the background and their smooth tone transitions.

Hi Andy,

i'm by no means an expert in wildlife photography, so i'll just give you my honest opinion...I think it's great! You've got good detail, a nice pose and the exposure on his white feathers is spot on too. I even like the pink reflected from his feet onto the underside of his belly!

Hi Andy,
this is really good work if it comes to the right exposure. The white parts are shown well and other parts as well. Also the sharpness is really good. Great overal performance! Maybe the centered position is something we can discuss about.

Andy this is so clear and sharp! You can make out the individual hairs on his head easily. Lovely colours and BG is delicious! Really well exposed.
The side profile of his face shows us his magnificent beak. Perhaps not having him slap bang in the middle would have improved the composition more?

Great image Andy, where you captured all the beauty of this specimen, with total sharpness, focus and great light control that it offers excellent detail even in the white areas of the plumage.
I like the take off of the animal on the appropriate diffuse bottom generating a pleasant effect of depth.
The vertical framing collaborates with the aesthetics of the composition.

This is simply a flawless picture!
I really kept looking and looking, but i honestly can't point out any mistake ;)
What a charming post!
I really like everyhing from it, beginning with the colros - of both the penguin and the beautiful BG, the sharpness of very detail and all the way to the pose of your cute subject here.
The tech-work is also fantastic and the presentation is great.

Hi there Andy,

I don't understand why you didn't post this picture sooner as I think it rocks! Exposure is spot on, details are razorsharp and the colors are excellent and very natural. The bg is also magnificent and makes this bird stand out very well. You say they're such easy subjects, but I beg to differ! I made a lot of shots when I visited the Rockhoppers with you last September, but I didn't even get one single decent shot. Okay, the circumstances were not ideal then (a little rain, cloudy and all the penguins in a crowd), but I till think you did an amazing job on this bird! Well done & TFS.

Hi Andy. Very sharp photo showing a lot of details. Good note on this species. If possible i would have cropped to leave slightly more photo on the side to which it is looking, not necessarily the 2/3 but a little more would add some more mystique as to what it was looking at. The DOF is very good. TFS. Murray.
