Yet another swan photo. As wet and cold as it's been here, the only place where I can go at the moment is this part of The Thames. And there are swans in abundance.
It was a wild, windy day, the clouds scudding across the sky changed the light conditions constantly.
More of the cobs are now engaging in busking as the breeding season draws near. I liked this shot from behind showing some good detail of the feathers.
I think I may have gone a bit overboard with the saturation of the blues in the water. The original just looked a bit blah so, in Paint Shop Pro Photo XI, I used the color fade and hue & saturation tools to add a bit of oomph. May have oversharpened it, too.
Again, any feedback will be appreciated. |

Hi Michele,
I think you hit the nail on the head with your self appraisal. Other than To much blue the composition and details in the bird are excellent, Thanks for sharing.

The blue may be a little too dark but then water is this blue in places, this size doesnt show any over sharpness in fact it looks lovely the whole pic. You have caught a great pose. wish life was this boring here nothing to do but go to my little part of the Thames where yawn there was really nothing more than a whole lot of gorgeous swans preening for me.

Hi Michele, I really like this picture. What struck me most is the movement of the water against the movement of the swan's wings... beautiful. This deep blue cold water against the white of the bird is also good. I like it, this picture has contrasts and movements.
