Silver Washed Fritillary, Argynnis paphia
Here is a male Fritillary that kindly allowed me a little more time than normal to take his picture on Sunday morning. He was feeding, as you can see, on some Bramble (Rubus fruticosus) flowers.
I was thus able to get a number of quite sharp pictures in the sunlight without resorting to flash. Some other pictures had a more open-wing, flatter, point of view, but I chose this one because of the darker, more contrasting background. In the others, there was more foliage in the backgrounds, making them busier and less pleasing, at least to my eye.
The image has been treated in Neat Image to reduce noise and then cropped to show just a small amount of the Bramble in focus. Then resized dwon from about 2400 pixels to less than 800 to meet TN size and file limits. After resizing, I used the USM at 120/0.6/0. |

Hello Alan,
a very nice and beautiful perspective of the butterfly. Selection of focus plane is pretty good for such a difficult point of view. Best regards Siggi

Hi Allan friend,
Excellent capture, great sharpness and a beautiful color and contrast.
Beautiful composition drawing a good inverse pose that allows good to see details of the insect.
Thanks for the note!
Thanks to your advice, I've been learning to work a bit with Net Image. I hope to have good results soon.
Thank you for sharing and for the support!
Regards
Jesús
Hi Alan
A good shot of one of my favourite butterflies - saw plenty of them in the New Forest last week along with White Admiral (unfortunately the light was poor). Sharp detail on the wing and natural looking colours.
Kind regards
Vinny
