[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a view of Bradenham woods, in Buckinghamshire, in the heart of the Chiltern hills.
It's a large wood consisting mostly of beech trees and I went there expecting to see lots of autumnal colours. It seems I was a little early and there was still a lot of green on the leaves. Maybe beech turns a little later than other species of trees? It was still beautiful and I took a few shots while on my walk, this is my favourite. This was taken about 4 weeks ago. I went back there yesterday and the autumn colours are still not 100% there, but I'll post another image soon.

As always, I hope you like it but please don't hesitate to tell me ways I could improve the photo.

Nature-related notes about the Chilterns as I couldn't find anything specific to Bradenham woods:

Elephants and rhinos have been found in the Chilterns - in the form of fossilised bones over 100,000 years old.

One fifth of the area of the Chilterns is covered by woodland - 3 times the average for England.

The beech woods were planted in the eighteenth century to provide timber for the furniture industry.

The Chilterns is home to the UK's largest population of Red Kites, a spectacular bird of prey re-introduced in the 1990's

Many hedges in the Chilterns are ancient - the black hedge near Princes Risborough is over 1000 years old.

The chilterns is a stronghold for rare flowers such as the Chiltern Gentian and Military Orchid.

The chalk in the Chilterns used to be at the bottom of the sea. It was formed between 70 and 95 million years ago from the shells of tiny sea creatures.

excellent quiet understated class shot of our country's beauty and charm...subdued yet inviting
the greens are a perfect tone suggesting the coming of autumn.
the note is quite informative and well chosen

post me how you did the LP please..i have done some but keep forgetting how to size them and upload them...without getting flagged for wrong size upload

This is indeed a very beautiful "late-summer" look on this gorgeous forest habitat.
The idea with a LP was great!
I like the light here - warm and reflecting very nicely from the vegetation. Also the ground level looks amazing with all those fallen leaves mixing with the grass. The multitude of colors and tones ir really fantastic.
A superb composition!
IMHO, just a tiny bit of contrast would help (and that's because i know you always want a 100% honest opinion)...but i may be wrong :)

I love the fact that this is panoramic. I clicked on it and instantly felt like I was in the woods. Lovely scene, nice light and wonderful colours

Hi Andy,

I already told you via e-mail that I just love this picture. It's very well taken and the sense of depth is really amazing. Composition and POV are great. Colors are already amazing altough you mentioned the autumncolors aren't 100% there yet. You know what this reminds me of? The panorama wallpapers you had in the seventies. My neighbours had a whole wall covered with wallpaper with a photo like this. It always intrigued me and when I buy a new house I want such a seventies-wall myself. Anyway, your picture is excellent and I like it even better than the first time I saw it as you cropped off the light spot in the top right. Like Hester I felt I was instantly in the woods when I opened the large version. A well deserved big smiley. TFS!

Hi Andy,
Great control on the exposure. Shooting landscapes in a forrest is really difficult since there is such a huge difference between shadows and highlights. The depth is very good, but I feel it could be a bit better if there was somekind of FG interest. I do like the way the path takes me further into the photo and let me wonder through the trees.
