[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is fungi on fungi, the mushroom is Mycena inclinata and growing on it is a pin mould, probably of the genus Mucor. There are many mucor species that are only identifiable in artificial culture. These pin moulds may be found organic matter of many kinds for instance; bread, dung soil and tomatoes.

I think it looks like an explosion. The quality isn't all that great but this was hand held.

I hope you like it.

I don't really know what you mean about the quality not being all that great, it looks plenty good to me. It looks like the mushroom got a new hairdoo! It sure looks interesting.
Are the white tops of the pin mould just young ones that will turn dark later on? Any fill flash here?

Very interesting photo.

WOW Paul! Where do you find these...these...things? I've seen fungi on fungi, but this is fantastic. What an amazing shot!Hand held too...Brilliant!

Hand held or not, This is a great shot.
Very good work and good notes.

Very good one Paul, it look like one of the Beatles.
Very sharp too. A great one.

Paul, This is really something special! Nature does funny things. I love this one irrespective of the technical quality of the shot.
Greetings, Jan

Espectacular captura Paul... sin dudas.
La imagen del hongo con esos filamentos tan delgados y delicados son sintetizados en el título elegido.
Adecuado DOF y encuadre con una breve pero interesante nota sobre estos hongos.

Spectacular capture Paul... without doubts.
The image of the fungus with those so thin and delicate filaments is synthesized in the chosen title.
Adapted DOF and frame with a brief but interesting note about these fungi.

Very good capture Paul. You seem to have a good eye for things other may miss. Great post.
