[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the 3rd of the Six spot burnets I have posted from the SSSI (site of special scientific intrest) of Eskmeal sand dunes by the tiny village of Drigg.
here they are seen on the native wild tyme (Tymus sepyllum)which from my observation of the site the seemed to only grow on the numberous humps made by colonies of ants who came out to try and eat you when kneeling by them to take a picture of the insects feeding on the flowers.
You may notice the 2 moths tail to tail in the bottom of the image in the act of mating, the paler one could be either a variation or simple fadding due to old age, I saw several of a simular shade. They where all moving at great speed in the midday heat it being one of the warmest of the year.
Other posts from the site 1 and 2 also 3 and finally 4 there is more information and links to the nature reserve to be found on these images.

Whenever I see these moths I will remember that first post you did on them. I still have it in my favourites. Nice to see the color variation here. Nice one.

Nice shot here, Rob. Timid colors of the BG really accent the objects. Well done. Thanks for the links in you notes, interesting.

Love these Six spot burnets Robert. Interesting frame packed with color & the mating pair a plus! Great detail of these Six-spots considering their activity level. Well done!
