[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi,

Thought I'd post one from the archives today - a shot taken about 3 years ago on a New Years Day walk in the Lake District.

Those of you familiar with the mountains of Cumbria will probably recognise the skyline of Stickle Pike in the distance - this was taken from the area behind Blea Tarn on the way down to Little Langdale.

I really liked the interplay of colours and shadows and sunlight on this view and loved the way the tree stood out from the vivid blue sky.

Was quite a long walk so I didn't lug my tripod around - always a dilemma!

Hallo Doug
Looking at this photo, I think it is good to sometimes dig into the archives and dust of the photographs that we thought at that time was not good enough. This is such a undisturbed and peaceful. Looking at it makes me miss somebody I don't even know. An image I would print, frame and put it on my wall. This is really beautiful. There is just such a variety of colours to appreciate in this photo. The blue sky, the lonesome leafless tree, the dry grass, the one green shrub in the distance and off course as you have mentioned the shadows. This is a magic scene that has a calming effect on the eye. The scenery is really wonderful. A spectacular view which I enjoyed looking at very much. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Doug

A great composition - weoll planned and executed. The balance of the main elements in the image, both physical and tonal are very well positioned.

There is something about dead bracken and a blue sky on a winter day that is uplifting!

How can you have kept this tucked away for so long?? It's magic! Captures the very essence of Lakeland and Englands upland areas perfectly. A fine composition, perfectly exposed and a very nice contrast of colours - i'm there for a week in June (Langdale for 2 days), can't wait!

What stunning weather for New Years Day!
Great shot of this magnificent landscape.
Excellent clarity and sharpness.
Great use of the tree as FG interest.

I lke this image. It is so simple, and sharp with super depth of focus. It is interestng and effective that the background mountain is in shadow while the sky is clear and most of the rest of the image is in sun.
